Frustration filled the Lane family's home as their family doctor arrived with Marcus's medical reports.
"Mr. Lane, please forgive my bluntness, but Young Master Marcus has contracted an STD—a sexually transmitted disease," the doctor announced with a serious expression.
Matthew and Marcus froze the moment they heard the news. Marcus, in particular, immediately panicked, looking as though his entire life had come crashing down around him.
Seeing the expressions on the father and son's faces, the doctor let out a small chuckle.
"Please don't be too alarmed, Mr. Lane, Young Master Marcus. There are many types of STDs, and some are easily treatable."
He continued, "Fortunately, Young Master Marcus has contracted a relatively mild infection. Since we detected it early, a course of injections should be enough to treat it."
"However, when I say it's mild, that doesn't mean it should be taken lightly. If left untreated, the infection could develop into something much more serious."
