Keith Coleman noticed that Rose Shaw was constantly holding a lighter. Smoking was a habit for her; it wasn't something she could just quit on a whim. It was clear she was fighting a powerful urge to smoke.
"Isn't it exhausting, changing yourself for someone like this?"
Rose Shaw froze, then ignored his question. "Your President Fairchild really went over the top today."
"He must feel like he was a useless teammate and wants to make up for it."
"You've got some nerve, talking about him like that behind his back."
"I'm just talking to you. You won't sell me out, so these words will never reach President Fairchild's ears." Keith Coleman looked at Rose Shaw and added, "You and Felix Hughes are from two different worlds. Being with him will only make your life exhausting and difficult."
Rose Shaw's brow furrowed. She had deliberately changed the subject, not wanting to discuss it further, yet Keith Coleman had managed to steer the conversation right back.
