"What is Felix Hughes to you? Why are you defending him like that?"
"My relationship with him is none of your business. I just came to give you a heads-up, so you're prepared."
"Rose, since you've walked through that door, don't even think about leaving tonight."
"We'll see if you've got what it takes."
Keith Coleman stood up, grabbed a few more bottles of liquor from the cabinet, set them on the table, and opened every single one.
"Try me."
Rose Shaw smiled and nodded. "I'll keep you company till the very end."
Two hours later…
"Rose, don't go! Rose, I like you."
"Heh heh, my little bunny Rose, c'mere and give me a hug!"
"Gimme a kiss, mwah."
Rose Shaw sighed, pressing a hand to her forehead as she looked at the man on the bed. His clothes were in disarray, and he was hugging a pillow, throwing a drunken fit.
Seven or eight empty liquor bottles lay scattered on the floor nearby.
