Chapter 18 - The sudden holiday

The revelation that Kingdom Z was in a state of national celebration for her—though she remained blissfully unaware—added a surreal layer to Zennah's quiet life. While the streets outside were chaotic with cheering crowds and makeshift festivals, Zennah sat in the relative calm of her sister's apartment, feeling a strange, phantom connection to the handsome stranger from her dreams.

The Palace of Chaos

Inside the royal residence, the silence was deafening, broken only by the sound of shattering porcelain. Princess Elara paced the floor, her eyes burning with a mixture of fury and betrayal. The Prime Minister, the man she had earmarked for her own political machinations, had declared a national holiday for a woman no one could identify.

"Who is she?" Elara shrieked, sweeping a vase off the mantle. "Find her! If she is nothing more than a commoner, I will see to it that she and that brat in her belly disappear before the sun sets."

Her guards stood rigid, trembling. They knew the Prime Minister's power was absolute, but the Princess's wrath was a slow-burning fire that consumed everything in its path.

The Secret Web

Unknown to the Princess, a far more dangerous game was being played in the shadows. Zennah's sister, acting as the nexus of a lethal group of assassins, watched the digital chatter with a grim smile. Her "boss"—the legendary, enigmatic Audrey—was currently advising the very man who had turned the kingdom upside down.

On an encrypted group chat, the Black Lizard and Black Panther were already mobilizing.

Black Panther: The target is the man clinging to the Princess? No, wait. The target is the man who "bewitched" our Lady Boss. We take him, we torture him for the antidote, and we erase him.

Black Lizard: Orders are confirmed. Hunt the man. Antidote first, then execution.

Zennah watched her sister, noting the icy focus in her eyes. "Little sister," Zennah asked, concerned, "you seem... different. Are you in trouble? Who are you messaging?"

Her sister looked up, her expression softening instantly. "Just work, Sissy. Dealing with some very difficult people. Don't worry—I'm making sure nobody touches you or the baby."

The Mentor's Advice

Miles away, Audrey leaned back in her chair, a rare, thoughtful smile playing on her lips as she spoke to Prime Minister Ruben Swan.

"You're a fool, Ruben," she teased. "A two-day national holiday? You've made your lady a target. If you truly want to win her, you stop acting like a Prime Minister and start acting like a man who knows how to apologize."

Ruben, the most powerful man in Kingdom Z, sighed, his face softening as he looked at a photo of Zennah—taken from afar, her hand resting on her stomach. "I wronged her. I took her innocence in a moment of darkness. But I swear, Audrey, I will spend the rest of my life making it up to her. I want to be a father. I want to be a husband."

"Then stop hiding in your limousine," Audrey advised. "She's a woman of substance. She doesn't want a holiday; she wants a partner who will stand by her when the world turns against her."

The Dream of the Protector

That night, Zennah fell into a deep, restless sleep. In her dream, she stood in a field of lilies under a golden sky. A man approached—tall, pale-skinned, with eyes like liquid night and red, thin lips that curved into a smile that felt like home.

He didn't speak. He simply reached out, his hands large and warm, and scooped her child into his arms. As he held the baby, he wrapped his other arm securely around Zennah's waist, pulling her into a space where she felt utterly invincible. He handed her a piece of her favorite chocolate—a small, intimate gesture that made her heart race.

She woke up with tears in her eyes, the warmth of the dream still clinging to her skin. She touched her stomach, whispering to the dark room, "Who are you? And why do I feel like you're already standing right behind me?"

She had no idea that at that very moment, outside her window, a black limousine was parked in the silence of the night, and the man inside was watching her apartment with the devotion of a king guarding his only treasure. The holiday had been for her, the empire was being shifted for her, and the assassins were already moving—all because the "useless man" had finally decided to claim what was his.
