[Chapter Size: 2600 Words.]
Rōran, 43.
...
...
After that argument between them, they decided to act.
First, they had to calm the people on the surface. Thanks to Minato's special Rasengan, the entire city trembled. And the people were somewhat agitated because of it.
The queen appeared publicly with Minato's help, using a mask to hide herself, bringing both her and Sara to the front of the palace, where she began explaining that there had been an attempted coup d'état.
The criminal was none other than the advisor, Anrokuzan, who had tried to assassinate the queen. At the same time, they discovered that all the palace members had been killed and replaced by puppets.
The people of Rōran were deeply shocked by this news. The queen, now with no one left in the palace, had to speak with and compensate the families of the people Mukade had killed inside the palace. Many seemed dissatisfied with this and even blamed the queen herself upon learning they had lost their loved ones. Minato was there to protect her, but the queen herself felt guilty, after all, she was the one who had brought Anrokuzan into the palace when she believed he was a kind man.
At the same time, they needed to quickly fill the vacant positions in the palace, managing to call in some people from outside to compose the court.
Minato, capable of detecting emotions like Kushina in yellow chakra mode, was far more meticulous. Not only could he sense the root of a person's chakra, but he could also perceive the greed and dark intentions of those the queen called in to interview and decide who would be the best candidates to help repair the core of Rōran.
It was obvious that a dark soul might not remain dark forever, difficult as it was, just as an honest aura would not always remain honest. People could become enlightened or corrupted over time for countless reasons.
Even so, it was far more acceptable to trust someone honest than someone clearly greedy.
Because of that, Minato pointed out to the queen who she could trust and who she should avoid at that moment.
She accepted the conditions very well, listening attentively to everything Minato said about each person who appeared before her.
Thus, she managed to assemble a team to manage the kingdom over the next few days, with Tsuna returning to Konoha to inform them that Kushina would be absent from the sealing team for a few days. Meanwhile, she would take care of the children and also inform Mikoto and Hanabi.
Minato had to personally go to Konoha, bring his students, and talk about the missions. Although the clone had already explained about his mission in the Land of Stars and his trip to Rōran, Minato spoke with Sakumo about staying in Rōran for a few days. The queen herself would have to reward them for the S-rank protection mission.
Minato spent the last day helping uncover all the modifications Mukade had made to the kingdom, as well as his secret locations and even the factories he had secretly built throughout the country. Using abandoned buildings and the underground beneath them, he had created secret places to build his army.
Minato couldn't stop thinking about how much of an idiot Mukade was. Why would he need people to move and turn levers when he had an infinite source of energy for that?
The factories could operate on their own, without needing the citizens Mukade intended to enslave in order to rebuild the puppet army.
Minato also had to admit, while thinking about Mukade's ideas, that there was certainly value in rebuilding a strong defense for Rōran.
The puppets here worked differently. They didn't just throw kunai; they could fire energy beams, create solid forms with their own chakra, such as capture nets, swords, even regenerate themselves, among other things, in addition to flying at high speed throughout the city.
Even if it was a defense that only functioned within Rōran, it would still be enough to protect it from future attacks.
Minato would always be there whenever Rōran needed him. Even during the war, his teleportation and his ability to travel at the speed of light would allow him to reach Rōran instantly or in less than an hour, no matter where he was.
Even so, the city also needed to have its own defenses.
"We'll follow Mukade's ideas," Minato decided during a private meeting with the queen in the throne room.
Everyone in Rōran had come to know him as Lumen over the past two days. Even though that was his codename as an ANBU, no one really associated him with Minato Namikaze, since that information was internal to Konoha and not public. Minato only showed his face when he was alone with the queen or the others.
The queen had just heard Minato and couldn't help but hesitate a little. "Are you sure, Lord Minato?" the queen murmured. She was not pleased to be connected to the actions of that traitor, but she would listen to Minato.
"Sorry if this seems troubling to you, but think about it with me. He still intended to strengthen Rōran and place it under his control. But now that Mukade is out of the way, we can use everything he planned to do wrong to our advantage. Your city will be strengthened and protected even while we're fighting the war..." Minato explained.
By this point, he had already found all the hideouts Mukade had within the city, all of his research notes, and everything he had extracted from the library and the knowledge that Rōran naturally possessed.
"Alright..." the queen murmured in the end, she had to acknowledge that as well.
"Lord Minato... have you thought about what to do regarding my daughter's proposal?" the queen asked cautiously.
Minato looked at her and sighed.
"Sorry, I haven't had much time to think about it, but honestly, there's no need for that..." he said.
"My daughter thinks you don't like her," the queen said.
"Don't get me wrong. But this isn't an advantageous arrangement for either of us. We barely know each other... And I already have my wives," Minato said sincerely.
Minato was avoiding Sara because he knew none of this required a political alliance. It felt a little cold to marry someone with whom he still had no bond. Even though he understood very well how these things worked and knew it would be a political marriage, there was no need to resort to that. And Minato liked having a bond with the person, just as he had with his four wives.
He knew women were naturally interested in him. He had seen it in several missions he had carried out, within the Uzumaki clan, with the Daimyō of the Land of Stars, and even the queen of Rōran herself didn't seem to deny the way she looked at Minato now. Sara would be no different. However, he didn't have the same feeling of love that he had for his wives.
And the problem was that Sara was far too weak. She had no abilities at all, being only a maiden who needed to be saved. And there would certainly be some conflicts inside Minato's household among four powerhouses above Kage level.
Sara would be swallowed alive in the middle of one of those conflicts. Sometimes Minato would release his Conqueror's Haki, exploding through every window in the house to the point that even the village itself trembled, something necessary to calm those four women whenever they disagreed about something.
He couldn't deny it: he had a wonderful life. He had four beautiful and extremely powerful wives. He lived a safe life, received affection and sex every day, to the point that they even competed among themselves for their turn with him. They were extremely happy because they loved each other.
But they were also four women with extremely strong personalities, and each one had different opinions about many things. Obviously, conflicts happening was normal. There was no way to live in a fantasy world where everything was perfect all the time.
And the central pillar of that family was Minato, because he could subdue all four of them when things got out of control. Not only because they all loved and respected him, but also because he knew how to show authority when necessary.
The problem was that Sara would be in the middle of all those conflicts. She wouldn't survive it. It would be better for her to fall in love with someone else and move on with her life. Minato had no intention of making her one of his wives.
After talking a little longer with the queen, Minato decided to leave the throne room after that.
He teleported to Kushina, who was on top of one of the isolated skyscrapers. She was focused on training with Naruto, since it had been decided that he would spend a few months there, and she had started the training immediately.
Kushina had practically abandoned all her activities in Konoha to help her future son from another world.
But Naruto had gotten a few bumps on his head. Kushina was quite loving, but also strict, and she didn't hesitate to hit Naruto a few times.
Naruto didn't know whether he should feel happy or afraid of the training Kushina was giving him. One moment she praised him; the next, she hit him whenever he did something wrong or said something that irritated her.
"Minato!" Kushina hugged him as soon as he appeared, startling only Naruto.
"Hey, Kushina! Don't kill Naruto," Minato joked, looking at Naruto's bruises.
"Of course I'm not going to kill him, Minato! I'm just showing him the right path," she said, stepping back and crossing her arms.
"..." Naruto stopped concentrating to look at Minato.
"How have you been? Has she been strict?" Minato asked.
"I... I'm doing fine! Sometimes I do a few things wrong, dattebayo, but that's part of it!" he said with a smile. Minato could tell that deep down, he was provoking Kushina on purpose so she would scold him, wanting to receive a scolding from his mother, something Naruto had never experienced in his life.
"Minato! Minato!" Kushina suddenly seemed to have an idea, acting excited out of nowhere. "I've been thinking... I saw some really nice shops here. Why don't we go out tonight and take Naruto with us!?" she asked with a gleam of joy in her eyes.
She clearly had the expression of a woman excited by the idea of going out as a family.
"You know we just look like two older siblings to him, right?" Minato said.
"Who cares, he's our son, we need to do things that parents would do with their children, dattebane!" she said as if she wouldn't accept a no.
Naruto, who could no longer focus because of that, was watching the interaction between his parents from that world.
At this point, Minato realized his mother was quite energetic. If he had to say it, he had inherited her personality, catchphrase, and much more, while he got his father's appearance. His father was very calm and intelligent. He always seemed to know what to say and how to act.
And it was easy to see that the two got along very well. Minato sometimes had to listen to Kushina's demands, she could be bossy at times, Naruto had already learned that in practice, but Minato knew how to deal with her. 'At least she didn't hit him.' Naruto had to think.
"We can't be seen here, but we can use the Transformation Jutsu to at least change our hair or go somewhere else," Minato said.
"Let's just change our hair, no one will notice us! We can visit the city tonight." Kushina practically celebrated before grabbing Minato by the arm.
She then leaned close to his ear so Naruto wouldn't hear the next words, changing her voice to a seductive tone. "I've also been thinking about something else..." Minato could feel Kushina's breath against his ear.
Minato merely raised an eyebrow, waiting for Kushina to continue.
"I think it's finally time for us to have a child..." she said in the same tone.
Minato's lips curled into a smile. "We've already tried almost every day," he teased.
"No, not the right way," she immediately replied. "I'm serious. No more taking contraceptives to avoid getting pregnant."
Minato seemed surprised that Kushina was finally willing to have a child.
They had already been married for more than a year and a few months, but Kushina still didn't seem ready to have a child. That was why, when she spoke with Minato after they got married, she said she wanted to wait a little longer.
Perhaps seeing Naruto and then taking care of the babies together with the other women for so many months had awakened that feeling in her heart.
And it was around this time that Kushina would naturally have Naruto, right around the period when the war should be ending.
Someone suddenly started coughing, interrupting the conversation between the two.
Naruto looked like he wanted to throw up. He might not have heard what Kushina said, but he could see that desire-filled look she gave his father while exchanging words with him.
He knew their interaction was quite intimate. Seeing the parents of his other self from that world acting that way made him unsure whether he should feel happy or disgusted.
A paper ball, which Kushina had made by crumpling the paper she had in her hands about Naruto's training, flew forcefully toward his face, hitting him so hard that it made him fall backward.
"Ouch!" he cried out in pain. That ball felt like a lead bullet to Naruto, even though it was only paper, but the force Kushina had thrown it with hurt him.
"Focus on your training instead of listening to other people's conversations, Naruto!" Kushina said irritably.
Minato opened a small smile before turning his attention back to Kushina. "After the war, I'm sure it won't last much longer. Just a little more," he said.
He still had to worry about his other two children. The blond already had an idea of where to transfer them. He was thinking of sending them along with someone who could take care of them in their absence to the dragon clan that lived on the floating islands.
No one would be able to kidnap their children there, not even the Zetsu.
Kushina nodded, agreeing with Minato's idea.
"Alright... after the war," she said, looking at Naruto, who had returned to training while still touching his head and getting used to the strength of his mother from that world, demonstrated by her throwing a simple crumpled piece of paper.
"I was thinking..." Minato looked at Naruto, who had gone back into a lotus position in the middle of the building. "Do you want to come with me? I'm going to see Sara so we can visit Mukade's puppet factories. I need to see how we can use them to protect Rōran," Minato said, while Kushina looked at him and then at Naruto.
It was obvious that Kushina wouldn't let Minato go alone with Sara, and Minato certainly didn't want to do that either.
"Of course, let's go Naruto, you can continue the training later," Kushina said.
