She stared at the corpse, then at her hand, realization draining the little color in her face. Her breathing came shallow and uneven almost feeling sick, looking at her own hand, as if they belonged to someone else entirely.
"What did I just do...?" she whispered, her voice splintering under the weight of it.
The words barely left her lips before they seemed to echo back at her suffocatingly. Tears gathered at the corners of her eyes, blurring her vision, but she forced them back with a sharp blink. There was no time for that now.
Her chest tightening, Alicia turned around, gaze finding Nicholas, who had unmistakably seen, his eyes half-lidded though. A weak smile pulled up in pain, his lips moved, strained but no voice came.
