At three in the morning, the heavy stillness of the night offered no comfort to Belle. Sleep remained entirely out of reach after the bewildering ordeal she and Ceres had just experienced. Both of them were still utterly baffled by the impossibility of it all: Ceres had somehow managed to detach from Belle's body, traveling across a distance of nearly fifty miles to end up at the Dumrique residence.
On top of the baffling physical separation, an unsettling realization nagged at the edge of Belle's mind. She had a strong inkling that Ceres wasn't merely drawn to the aura of danger that the man exuded. She was almost certain that the soul sharing her physical form had fallen deeply, inexplicably in love with him.
