Chapter 6 - Spirit of the sword!

On that same day, once Alan had finished eating breakfast with his mother and was able to move around freely on his own, he quickly walked through the estate of the dragon clan.

The dragon clan's estate was massive, its size easily surpassing that of a large village and many members of the dragon clan could be seen moving around doing their daily activities.

While he was walking, he happened to come across a particular building where many different members of the dragon clan were gathered, training their sword hands.

'Hmm, their techniques are different from the ones I had learnt and developed in the past.' Alan hummed as he thought to himself.

While he was still the 'Overlord' Ruler of the battlefield.

He had trained for hundreds of years in many different sword styles and techniques, but the one that was being taught was of a style that was currently unknown to Alan. He was filled with the urge to stay and observe their training, but he scolded himself as he moved forward.

The most important thing now is to see how strong he was. He couldn't allow himself to get distracted now.

Alan walked through a courtyard, admiring the many different sceneries as many different plants and buildings entered his field of view. Over his head was a clear blue sky as the sun rays spill downwards, blessing the open space with its dazzling golden glow.

"If I didn't have Alan's memories, then I probably would be stunned seeing this residence for the first time." He muttered to himself.

Even though the dragon clan's estate could not be compared with the goddess's, Udea's mansion, which he had seen many times, it was still a beautiful sight.

'Speaking of which, a thousand years had already elapsed. I wonder how the goddess is doing right now.' He wondered as he slumped his shoulders.

He was the strongest knight serving the goddess, and he was also her greatest asset when facing her sister.

Now that Ellard was dead and had been reborn, while losing most of his powers in the process. The goddess of death was probably rejoicing at the moment.

"Sigh! Whatever, I'll make sure to deal with that woman once I have regained my powers again." He muttered.

The first step is to see his current level. While he was reborn into the body of a small child, he could still grow stronger from here. Alan smiled wryly. It was like he had started over from zero again.

He then made his way toward a small garden where there was no one around. The scent of various flowers, accompanied by the tranquil breeze, filled the air.

Alan stopped before a small pond where small fish could be seen swimming.

"First things, first, my sword." Alan turned his head towards a giant tree not far in the distance.

He slowly approached it before sitting down in a meditation position.

His first steps to getting stronger are to reconnect with his spirit sword, 'Blood Reaper' was a legendary sword said to be capable of slaying both gods and demons. Why did Ellard have that kind of sword? He wasn't sure himself.

The goddess, Udea, wasn't sure about it herself either. But the goddess of death knew about it and wanted to kill him before he could use it.

Spirit swords were extremely special; they each had their ranks and abilities. Great rank was common and one that most people are more likely to awaken, while mythical rank is more powerful than great rank; mythical Spirit swords can communicate with their partners and lend them powers of their own will.

While Grand rank was by far the most powerful a Spirit sword can go, at least there has never been a higher rank than this. Not only can Grand Spirit swords communicate with their partners, but they can also materialise into different forms from their sword form.

Alan closed his eyes and took deep breaths, feeling a tingling sensation deep within his soul.

He could see it! He could feel it! He wasn't mistaken; it was his beloved sword that had accompanied him through many battles.

The sword had a black hilt, and its blade was a deep shade of red, as though it was bathed in the blood of many of its unfortunate victims!

'Respond to me, the blade that severs all life.' He called out to his sword in his mind. At his call, a light gathered in his outstretched hand, as a sword with a red blade suddenly appeared there, filling the surroundings in its divine aura.

The sword was two meters long, and its blade was a deep shade of sparkling silver. But the aura it released was brutal, as though it was thirsty for blood. On the cross guard of the sword, there was a small golden gemstone embedded inside it.

"Heh, so I was right, even though I was reborn, since my soul stays the same, I can still summon the blood reaper sword," Alan said, as he looked at his sword.

His expression was extremely pleased as he sighed in relief. In this new Era, in this new body, it would have been a lie if he said he wasn't worried, since his body was only as strong as a regular boy his age, but...

'I'll get strong just like I did before.' He thought with determination, but just then.

[That's more like it! I was worried you were going to be depressed after being reborn and losing all your previous strength.] A soft and melodious voice sounded inside his head.

"Oh, is that you, Akane?" Alan asked, a faint smile tugged at his lips.

[Heh, who else could it be but your favourite partner?] Her voice sounded cheerful.

"Can you come out right now?" Alan asked, glancing at his sword.

[Nope, unfortunately, not with your current abilities being weakened, my abilities had also weakened. I won't be able to materialise until I have recovered a little more of my strength.] Akane replied, sighing.

"I see... Oh well, we'll regain the things that we had lost and meet Lady Udea again. Then... we will deal with that goddess for what she did to us back then." Alan said, clenching his fist.

[I see... that's good, can you not squeeze me so tight. Even though I'm in sword form, I can still feel the sensation of my neck being squeezed, you know.] Akane responded in a sulking tone.

"Sorry about that, now then I want to try swinging my sword. I can't activate your abilities right now, but my swordsmanship skills should be about the same as before. Though this body still lacks the necessary experience I had back then." Alan said while getting to his feet.

Standing beneath the tree, the gentle breeze continues to caress his face, causing his beautiful silver hair to sway in the wind.

Swoosh!

With a single motion of his arms, he swung his sword downwards, slicing at a small leaf that had fallen from the tree. It danced gently as it slowly made its way downwards, but with a graceful motion, the leaf easily dodged the sword.

'Tch, as I thought, this body is too weak.' Alan thought, usually cutting through something like a leaf was child's play for him, but with him being inside the inexperienced body of Alan, such a thing was simply impossible at the moment.

"Sigh! What a pain it's going to be. Perhaps before I start training my swordsmanship, I should first start training my body." Alan suggested.

[Indeed, that would be preferable.] Akane agreed.

"In that case, I'll try some simple exercises for the time being," Alan said.
