If she did not do it earlier, would things even feel this awkward?
Roland blinked once.
"Weird?"
She nodded slightly.
"What I did earlier…"
Her voice grew smaller toward the end.
Roland stared at her for a few seconds before suddenly laughing softly.
Not mocking.
Not amused.
Just… warm.
Janine immediately became embarrassed.
"Why are you laughing…"
"Because you're overthinking too much."
"I'm serious…"
"I know."
Roland's gaze softened.
Then, in a calm voice, he said—
"I liked it."
Janine's breath instantly stopped.
Her grip on his hand tightened considerably.
Her eyes turned wide as if she could not believe what she just heard.
Roland looked back at her calmly.
There was no teasing in his expression. He was serious with what he said.
Only sincerity.
"I really liked it," he repeated quietly.
Boom.
Janine felt her entire body grow hot.
She immediately looked away again.
Her poor heart could barely survive this anymore.
