Its Monday. I have a therapy session with my doctor at 9:00 am. I plan to go there and return to the office at 12:00 PM. I informed Mr Elliott about it and he agreed to move the meeting to 1:00 PM.
Enduring the London street traffic, I finally reached the hospital at 8:35 am and sat patiently at my doctor's office until the it was time for the session to begin.
"Hello miss Ali" the doctor greeted
"Hi Mr Williams" I beamed, excited to take the first step in mending my melted brain.
"I talked to your father on the phone four days ago, he said you were doing great. I'm impressed"
"Yes doctor, you had specifically told me not to try digging up the past and only focus on the present and future and I did just that."I said. And the doctor laughed a bit while leaning against his chair.
" you are one happy person, if you continue like this then it is likely to get your memories back in a very short time" he said with his eyebrow knotted. I smiled at his gesture and nodded.
And so we talked about some stuff and rounded up the session at 12:00 PM as we had planned.
With the annoying traffic, it took me approximately thirty minutes to get to my work place. I checked my Gucci wrist watch and sighed in relief. Thankful that I wasn't late for the meeting with the sagirs. I heard from Mr Elliott that the older brother of Mr Afaan whom was also the owner of sagir's building company will be present at the meeting. I have heard that he is a very serious man who doesn't tolerate irresponsibility. I only pray that I don't mess things up for our company. This contract means a lot to us.
Slamming the car door shut, I walked with a fast pace to the main door, earning a grin from the security man.
"Late for the meeting again?" He teased, still grinning sheepishly.
"Not this time Abdul. I am full of surprises" I said and he laughed.
Thankfully, I arrived at the conference hall just as my team were about to go in.
"Hey guys! Thank goodness I made it on time" I almost yelled. Panting from all the running.
"Yeah, thank God I don't have to clean up your mess again" mercy cringed. Causing everyone to look at her in shock.
"Mess? Look, i have already apologized for what happened the other day so you have to quit talking to me like that mercy." I was loosing it. What's her problem with me.
Mr Elliott warned her and apologized on her behalf. The old man had to say sorry for what he didn't do.
From the corner of my eyes, I saw her roll her eyes but I really don't give a damn about her. I'm just gonna pretend she wasn't even there.
After waiting for what seemed like ages. Mr Afaan sagir and his people marched in like soldiers causing us all to stand up abruptly. We exchanged greetings and I tried as much as could to avoid having eyes contact with Mr Afaan. The glares I got the other time really freaked me out. Even Mr Elliott was sweating.
We all sat down right after we've shown them to their seats and Mr Elliott started.
"We are very honored to have you here again Mr sagir"
The Arab man tried to form a smile which was barely even noticed. He's not much of a smiler, or a talker.
"Its Afaan Mr Elliott, my brother goes by the name Mr sagir as he is the eldest." Surprisingly, he appeared to be more polite than I had thought.
"Alright then Mr Afaan. But I through your brother was coming too" Mr Elliott said.
The Arab men said some things to each other in their language. I was able to put the words together. Which made me wonder how long I had stayed in Dubai to have understood what they were saying. I was snapped out if my thought when Mr Afaan began to talk.
"His plane just landed, with the heavy traffic, I think it will take him an hour to get here but we can start without him. I'll explain everything to him when he gets here"
I really did understood what they were talking about.
Mr Elliott signaled for me to start my presentation. I steadily walked around the table to give each one of them a copy of the presentation in paper so they could understand it better. Mr Afaan wasn't glaring at me this time. He smiled when I handed him the paper. What a relief, that gave me the strength to go on.
Standing beside the projector, I started.
"Good afternoon everyone, so this is the blue print plan for the skyscraper we have decided to built at the center of the city..."
I was so glad the presentation went well. I was awarded with applause. I quietly walked back to my seat while they give their own opinions.
"That was very impressive Mr Elliott. I am certain that my brother will love to work with you" Mr Afaan said.
I watch them talk about business when my phone buzzed, indicating a notification. I unlocked the phone and smiled at the wallpaper almost forgetting that I unlocked the phone for a reason. It was a picture of azrah and ajwad with my mother.
It was a message from the Nanny Esther.
"I didn't call you because I knew you would be in a meeting. Please don't freak out but azrah fell off the stairs. She has a broken arm"
What!!! I adjusted in my seat. And she's telling me not to freak out?
How did that even happen. I told her not to leave them alone.
I looked over to Mr Elliott and realized that he had been talking to me all the while.
"Dear are you okay? You seem tensed" Mr Elliott asked andi sighed.
"No sir. Actually, I was going to ask for permission to leave." I said my voice shaking.
Mr Elliott was going to speak when mercy started. "Here we go again" she rolled her eyes as usual. I hope they fall off one day.
"What reason do you have to leave in the middle of a meeting" Mr Elliott asked.
I realized that all attention were on me. In order not to discomfort our guests, I scooted closer to Mr Elliott and told him what happened to my baby girl.
"I'm so sorry about that dear. Go now. She needs you more than anyone else right now" Mr Elliott said with concern laced in his voice.
I didn't waste anymore time. I rushed out of the building, everyone kept asking what happened but I wasn't even in my right senses. It was a very Sunny day so I pulled my sunglasses out and wore them as instructed by my doctor.
I bumped into someone while trying to get out of the door. It was sure and Arab man, he was wearing a white tawb. He had people following right behind him.
I Apologized as realization hit me. It was Mr sagir!
The owner of the sagir's building company.
I could swear I saw him remove his sunglasses to look at me properly.
