Chapter 29 - Melting The Cold Female Duke

CHAPTER 29

"Who are you?"

"What!"

Dandelion was shocked to see her puzzled face, and later grasped what he was doing.

Retracting his hand, he spoke haughtily. "I am the owner of this bed you're sleeping, this house you're in, and the man who saved you."

He frowns at the girl who was staring at his face silently and gawking at him. After he introduced himself, the girl didn't even give him a single reply, a word or even a nod only.

Without getting an answer from the girl, he decided to continue. He drags a small chair sat on it, and he settles himself near her.

"So you don't even remember me? I was that man! That man! That man, that man…" He said in cracked voice, and it was getting smaller in each word, while at the same time pointing to the open window.

The girl followed his fingers to where it was points at, and was confused, so she just exclaimed 'Ah!'

Because she didn't comprehend what he wanted to say to her, she just let out a word of understanding.

She looks outside the window and saw the big willow tree, and some wild flowers blooming. She seems to have seen that willow tree somewhere, but she can't pinpoint where exactly.

The sun was shining brightly, adding a magic touch to the swaying vines of the tree. It was mesmerizing.

"What 'Ah!'? You took my innocence, you are such a heartless w.o..fff..ekk.."

"…"

The girl shifted her view and stared at the sobbing man, who was looking at her intensely.

-Wife? I am a heartless wife? To this man?-

I was pondering why I was here on this bed laying, while talking to this unknown man who claimed himself to be the owner of the house I'm in, and was also my savior.

-Really? I don't remember him at all! Did he just say I'm his wife? His heartless wife? Seriously?-

"Then, did we have children?" I asked curiously to the man.

If no, then I'm leaving his house, since there was nothing that ties us, except for being his heartless wife. And also, I don't even freaking know who is he.

(*He introduced himself already, dear.)

"What? Of course no! Why would we have one…? Do you mean you got pregnant when you left me?"

The man looked serious and was contemplating whether I was pregnant or not. I don't know what this man was talking about, and I don't have a child as long as I can remember. But the question arising within me was that, did I truly leave this poor guy?

-How could I do that? Well, I could do that if someone was much more handsome than this guy. He was damn sexy and hot, though he had that innocent look too, it didn't hide his beauty, but instead helped him more approachable. He is just amazingly handsome, and I have nothing to argue about that.-

Somehow, seeing his tears made me guilty and ashamed at myself for making it harder for him. I pitied him for having a heatless wife like me, so in order to help him, we should better divorce. It's for the better.

Besides, I don't remember him and who was he in my life before I lost my memories. I think I had an amnesia, because I can't seem to recall anything about myself, not even my own name.

-Who am I anyway?-

I thought that the man before me knew who I am because he said I'm his wife, so I asked him with eagerness.

"Who am I? Do you know who am I? My name? What's my name?"

The sobbing stopped when I finished uttering those questions. The man was now looking at me with a weird gaze. He was puzzled? Why? Did he not expect his wife to forget him?

"I'm sorry, if I have been a heartless wife back then. It would be better if you hadn't saved me. Now, you have just revived your heatless wife. You should have left me to die. I'm sorry."

"What? You're having the wrong idea! I'm not…"

"Just stop! Please, stop… I won't trouble you again."

"…"

I tried to stand up, but failed to do so. My right leg appears to be broken, it will take years for me to heal it. Dang it.

"…"

Because of my constant squirming, the blanket that covered my body fell down to the floor, and my naked body was revealed. I don't give a damn, though. It seems like I was bold in the past.

"…"

I tried getting it back, but again I failed. I felt like a miserable failure. I can't remember anything, and here I am shaming myself in front of someone whose name I don't know. I felt like banging my head to the walls, then pretend to not remember anything.

Half of my body was hanging down the bed, one hand supporting me to not fall down, the other one tried reaching the blanket that was slumped on the ground.

I'm like a monkey clinging to a tree. While reaching the blanket, I was thinking if he finds my position funny. Will he laugh?

"…"

I was hoping my so-called-husband would help me, but he was just staring at what stupid thing I was doing. Am I so heartless that he won't even help me, his wife, to get a single blanket on the floor to cover my freaking naked body that who knows what's the freaking reason why am naked in the first place?

"Okay, stop doing that, let me get it. You had a broken leg and umm…a not so big wound on your head."

I stopped trying to get that freaking blanket, and obediently lay down. I was suspicious at him, was he the one who did these to me? He felt guilty, so he decided to save me?

"Don't look at me like that. I swear I didn't do these to you, okay?" He said, while covering me with the blanket. He spoke those words with an assuring tone, however he refused to meet me in the eye, while covering me with the blanket.

-He's suspicious-

Like last time, when I first opened my eyes and found myself here, only my head can be seen popping out from the cover. My whole body was overlaid by the huge, thin blanket. Sure, he likes women who were reserved. Not like some bold woman like me.

I stared at his expression, since I can easily do that because his face was above my head in such a good distance. He looks serious and his face was reddish. Is he alright?

"Rest first, I'll wake you up later when I finish making breakfast."

I nod at his statement, and asks. "Do you have a fever?"

"No, I haven't." Came a hasty reply.

After answering me, he left hurriedly, leaving me behind wondering why he was acting strange.

-Well, that's weird. I swear his face was so red. He must have a high fever. Is it because he was nursing me? He was such a good husband, I'm such an idiot not noticing it in the past.-

I sighed. I didn't remember anything, so I really couldn't reflect what mistakes I have done in the past. After all, what's in the past, remains in the past.

I just hope he won't drive me out, when I'm still in this miserable situation. I'm worried about my leg's condition, so I took a peek, and when I saw it, I thought to myself.

-It's a pity.-
