Her eyes remained fixed on the front of the classroom.
The lesson had started nearly an hour ago. The professor continued discussing the topic, but Xylia barely heard a word.
Her thoughts were somewhere else.
She couldn't stop replaying the conversation between Aciel and Grace earlier.
"You're here, Aciel."
"Yeah." Aciel chuckled. "I thought you were joking."
Grace smiled sweetly.
"I told you I wouldn't give up."
The two of them had talked as if they were the only people in the room.
And with every word they exchanged, Xylia felt another sharp sting in her chest.
The lesson dragged on for two more hours.
For Xylia, it felt endless.
She wanted to run somewhere and hide until the uncomfortable feeling disappeared.
"Hey, are you okay?"
Chelsea's voice snapped her back to reality.
Xylia blinked.
She hadn't even realized the first period had ended.
Chelsea was looking at her with concern.
Forcing a smile, Xylia nodded.
"I'm fine."
Chelsea raised an eyebrow.
