The court selects these individuals completely randomly from the personal records of Ames City citizens. If conditions were attached, it would violate the jury system, and the court wouldn't permit it. The best course of action now was to filter out the devoutly religious and those who had made donations to religious organizations, thereby reducing the difficulty of the upcoming trial. Otherwise, this case would be as difficult as scaling the heavens.
