Gu Fei curtsied. "Young Master Zhou."
"I've come to, uh, pawn something."
Young Master Zhou stopped. "What is it? Let me see. This is my family's shop. If it's good, I'll give you a better price."
Gu Fei's eyes lit up. "Really? Then thank you very much, Young Master Zhou."
The pawnshop counter was remarkably high. 'Perhaps it's designed to make customers feel looked down upon, to give the shop an intimidating advantage,' she thought.
Gu Fei raised her arm and placed the pouch on the counter. Young Master Zhou, ever the proper gentleman, went behind the counter himself before opening it.
He took out a tray and poured the beads into it.
Young Master Zhou picked up a green obsidian bead and held it up to the light from the window. "This bead is quite rare. I've never seen crystal of this color before."
He counted the green obsidian beads. "Hmm, there are enough here to string a bracelet."
