Bao'er puffed his cheeks and glared fiercely at Gu Fei. After a long moment, he said, "If you trick me, you're a puppy!"
Gu Fei nodded. "I promise I won't trick you."
Bao'er turned and stomped away in a huff. "Fine, I'll walk by myself! It's no big deal!"
Xing'er pressed her lips together for a long moment before whispering to Gu Fei, "Thank you."
Gu Fei smiled and pulled Lan Zhi along. "Come on, let's go. We still have a long way to go."
After walking for another hour, it was nearly noon. The cart in front stopped, and Uncle Ma called out, "Everyone, let's rest for a bit! Eat some dry rations. We'll set off again in half an hour."
At his shout, Lan Zhi collapsed onto the ground.
Gu Fei wasn't in much better shape, but she forcefully pulled her up. "Go sit on the mule cart for a while. Eat something and lie down."
