Sarah Sullivan knew they were going to say some secret things to Anthony Varley, things she shouldn't hear, most likely bad things about her.
Sarah Sullivan stood up, about to leave.
If you want to talk behind my back, I'll give you the space and time to do so freely!
"Don't go, ma'am!"
But Anthony Varley stopped Sarah Sullivan, took her hand, and let her sit beside him.
"Go ahead, what do you want to talk about?"
Anthony Varley's tone was like that of a clueless young man.
"Anthony, you...you should have Sally go back first... So much has happened today, she must be shocked and needs to calm down," Mr. Varley said calmly.
"It's fine, my wife isn't a fragile little woman. Dad, say whatever you need to say. If there's resting to be done, we rest together," Anthony insisted.
"I..." Mr. Varley was at a loss for words.
What he wanted to talk about was, of course, Sarah Sullivan's matter.
But how could he bring it up in front of Sarah?
For one, it was awkward.
