Theodore was suddenly yanked backward. Several arrows raced passed his vision as he slammed into the forest floor. Armor clattered around him as he saw many of the knights diving for cover.
Just how many archers does the opposition have?
Theodore couldn't even regain his breath before men followed the arrows, forcing the team to quickly get back to their feet. Theodore barely had time to step aside before a blade came bearing down on his head. The blade hummed as it passed by his head and embedded itself into the tree beside him. His assailant grunted as he pried his sword out of the tree.
Am I going to die?
Theodore tried to unsheathe his sword as he stumbled backward but his hands missed the handle and caught only empty air. He struggled to breathe as smoke began filling up the trees around him.
Where did all this smoke come from?
One of the knights under his command swooped in to stop the next swing of the man's blade aimed at him.
