"Wake up, wake up, honey! Are you planning to sleep here all day?" a soft, feminine voice whispered gently into his ear.
Isiah opened his eyes instantly. It had been an eternity since he had heard a feminine voice spoken with such genuine tenderness, and the sound felt entirely surreal.
Heavy with sleep, his mind drifted in confusion. For a fleeting second, Isiah forgot entirely where he was, losing all memory of the grueling months he had endured.
"Feeling lazy, my boy?" the voice murmured again.
Isiah sat up abruptly, jolted as though awakening from a prolonged nightmare. He stared at the woman sitting beside him, his gaze locked onto her face for far longer than normal. Closing his eyes tightly, he spent several agonized minutes attempting to organize his frantic thoughts, only to hear the gentle voice repeat, "Are you planning to sleep all day?"
