When Alphonso and I finally returned to Earth, the first thing we planned to do was to go our separate ways.
Honestly, it felt a little strange. We had spent so much time hopping from planet to planet that Earth suddenly felt… strange.
Alphonso stretched his arms like someone who had just finished a long vacation.
"Man… I almost forgot what normal gravity feels like," he said.
"Don't act like we were gone for ten years," I replied.
"Still counts," he shrugged.
We stood outside the teleport facility for a while, watching people walk around like nothing unusual was happening. Just humans minding their business.
Alphonso suddenly turned to me.
"So this is it, huh?" he said.
"Looks like it."
He rubbed the back of his head.
"Well… I'll start selling my stuff here on Earth. Houses, cars, whatever I've got left," he said. "After that, I'll head back to Vampiro."
I nodded.
That was part of the deal we made a long time ago.
