Aurelia kept glancing at me as we left the brothel district and landed nearby.
Not the casual kind of glance either.
More like the "are you insane?" kind.
We walked through a quieter street while the neon lights of the entertainment district slowly faded behind us.
After about five minutes of silence, she finally spoke.
"Are you serious?"
I looked down at her.
"About what?"
"About confronting him."
Ah.
That.
"Yeah," I said simply.
She stopped walking.
I took a few more steps before noticing she wasn't beside me anymore. When I turned around, she was standing there with her arms crossed, looking worried.
"You don't understand," she said.
"I probably don't," I admitted.
Her eyebrows twitched slightly.
"That man isn't just some noble," she continued. "He's a duke now. Newly titled, but still powerful."
"Okay."
"And he has guards. Many guards."
"I figured."
She stared at me for a moment.
"…You're not taking this seriously."
I scratched the back of my head.
"I am."
