In the blink of an eye, the Edge Sweeper had gotten so close to them.
Fortunately, it was preoccupied with the horde of Undying Fiends. Otherwise, the Edge Sweeper would have snuck up and devoured them when they weren't paying attention.
It seemed the Edge Sweeper was also capable of deflecting Divine Sense and wielded spatial abilities like the Void Devouring Serpent.
However, this strangely made perfect sense and shouldn't come as a surprise.
After all, they were both Void Beasts, miraculous life forms born from the depths of the void. Wielding one or more powerful spatial abilities should have been expected.
Empyrean Oceanheart just wasn't sure if the Edge Sweeper cut the distance with its own spatial ability or exploited a trail left by the Void Devouring Serpent. If the two also met, would they fight?
Void Beasts were solitary existences.
