Chapter 9 - chapter 9

Jocelyn woke up terrified again after having another terrible dream and as usual she could not remember anything from it.

"Who keeps trying to hurt me in my dreams?," She asked herself as she got out of bed and just then, her younger sister Mirabel walked in.

"Hey big sis, Are you still having nightmares? Laurel told me about them and I have been very worried about you Jocelyn," Mirabel said as she sat on her bed.

"I do not know or understand why I am still having all these terrible nightmares and what concerns me most is the fact that I do not remember them after I wake up," Jocelyn replied worried of her own predicament.

"I think you should see a therapist big sis, you have seen a lot of tragedies and I think that is what is haunting you," Mirabel answered, staring at her.

"I know I have seen a lot of things, Mirabel but I am not depressed. I feel my nightmares goes beyond that and I do not need to see a therapist because of it," Jocelyn replied as she walked round her room.

"Even if you do not see the need to, you just have to do it, Jocelyn. Do it for our mom. She will be very depressed if she finds out about this, so please reconsider," Mirabel said, making Jocelyn sign out loud.

"Okay Mirabel, I will do just that. You are becoming too smart for a sixteen years old dear. Tell me about school, especially those projects that are taking all your time," Jocelyn replied as she sat beside her. She missed having her sister to sister talk with her and she wanted their relationship to go back to the way it had always been.

"School is fine, I can't wait to finish high school so I can go to college and become a lab scientist," Mirabel answered, She was the brainy one in the family and according to her, science was her life.

"That is so wonderful little sis, I love your enthusiasm and dedication towards your school work. I saw your last grades and they were fantastic, keep up the good work," Jocelyn said, patting her on the back.

"Thank you very much big sis, I really appreciate your kind words. I want to make this family proud, especially you and mom," Mirabel answered with a huge smile plastered on her face.

"You're welcome dear, so tell me and be sincere, do you have any boy you like?," Jocelyn asked, looking at her suspiciously as she awaited a reply.

"No, I am focusing on my studies full time but speaking about boys. Laurel told me someone met their prince yesterday and he saved her from danger," Mirabel replied with a smirk making Jocelyn blush a bit.

"What happened and why did you let that stupid reporter go?," Mr Michigan shouted at the five guys in front of him.

"I am very sorry about everything that happened sir, I assure you that it will not repeat itself again," Gideon the head of the ground replied as he came forward, He was the one who tried to choke Jocelyn to death.

"Sorry for yourself you idiot, you could not even kill just one little reporter. You all are idiots and cowards,"Mr Michigan said in anger.

"Give us one more chance sir, we promise to make up for our mistakes," Gideon replied with all the confidence he could gather.

"I am going to give you all one last chance.if you screw this up, you will all not live to see the next day," Mr Michigan replied angrily as he walked out of them.

"How am I going to explain to our boss that an ordinary wind threw me away and attacked us? He is going to think that we are crazy, anyway we will get rid of that reporter and we are going to do it tonight," Gideon said and the others nodded in response.

Derek arrived at his office very late. He was very troubled about his latest dream. He remembered hearing the man call Jocelyn, the love of his life. He could not even understand why he felt so much pain after she died and he found himself drooling over her death since he had the dream.

"Good morning boss," Brian said, bringing him back to reality.

"Good morning Brian, what is our agenda for today?," He replied, trying to hide how he was feeling from him.

"Well a lot sir, are you okay sir?," Brian asked as he could not help but notice worry on his face.

"I am alright Brian, I had a bad night so please let's move to our agenda for today,"Derek replied slightly annoyed.

"Okay sir, First thing first. Mr Michigan's assistant came in today and I finalized the deal so we are back to business,"Brian replied with a smile.

"Finally, now let's just do it and get it over with. I hate working with the Michigans," Derek answered as he walked towards his chair.

"There is also something I want to tell you, I do not know if it is important but I need to tell you anyway,"Brian said and Derek became interested.

"Speak up Brian, you are free," Derek replied anxious to hear what he was going to say.

"I heard him talk on the phone about a reporter, it seems she was all on their business. I think he said something about ending her tonight," Brian answered as he tried to remember all he heard while Derek listened with curiosity.

"Did you hear her name?," Derek asked curiously and Brian became suspicious.

"No I did not sir, He referred to her as a stubborn reporter who keeps putting her nose in their business,"Brian replied trying to understand where he was heading to.

"You know what Brian, I have a mission for you. I need you to bring all the information that you can find on this reporter to me, and also add a picture of her," Derek said, surprising Brian.

"Okay boss," Brian replied, still trying to understand. He turned to leave as he got no further word from him.

Derek watched Brian leave the room.he knew Brian was suspicious but he was not ready to tell him anything yet. He remembered the day he saved Jocelyn, she told him she was a reporter that day and had come to meet a source. He also remembered hearing Mr Michigan talking on the phone about letting someone escape. Putting all these pieces together made him realize what was happening. Jocelyn is the reporter that Mr Michigan was trying to kill but for what reason.

"Could this be why I saw her in my dreams last night, is she really in some sort of trouble?," He asked himself.
