Chapter 10 - A Teacher's Echo

"How far could this child go if guided properly?"

He smiled faintly at the thought.

'A student is an unwritten page, and a teacher is merely the hand holding the quill. Two lifetimes had taught him that a disciple is a mirror; through guiding them, a teacher ultimately finds his own way home.'

A heavy sigh quickly shattered his thoughts.

He looked down, his gaze landing on the young boy currently staring at his test paper. The kid was holding his head in his hands, trying to understand basic math.

The question on this paper wasn't anything like complex algebra or calculus. It was simple arithmetic. But to the boy, it might as well have been an eternal curse.

Yang Lujia didn't scold him. He didn't sigh or shake his head. He remained smiling. His eyes remained fixed on the child's face. He pulled up a matte-black stool and sat beside the boy until they were at eye level.

"Still stuck on the carry-over?" Yang Lujia asked, his voice soft, completely devoid of judgment.
