The cold night wind whipped violently against Evie's face as she sprinted toward the edge of the rooftop.
"REN!"
Her voice cracked through the air just as Ren disappeared over the ledge.
Without hesitation, Evie dove after him.
The world blurred around her.
The forty-story drop should have terrified anyone, but Evie's evolved body reacted differently. Her mind calculated speed, distance, and momentum in an instant. Neon lights streaked past her vision while the roaring wind howled in her ears.
Below, Ren's lifeless body plummeted rapidly toward the pavement.
Evie stretched her hand forward.

Damn it!
She kicked against the side of the building, using the wall to propel herself downward faster. Concrete shattered beneath her feet from the impact.
Above, the gunmen stared over the rooftop edge in disbelief.
"What the hell—?!"
"She jumped too?!"
Evie ignored them.
