Morning arrived beneath Everwood's eternal twilight.
There was no sunrise in the Fey Realm.
Instead, the darkness simply softened, the stars dimmed ever so slightly, and the enchanted forest took on a silvery glow that marked the beginning of a new day.
Ren opened his eyes feeling... refreshed.
Strangely refreshed.
There was no stiffness in his body.
No lingering soreness from yesterday's relentless battles.
No bloated stomach.
No headache.
Not even the slightest hint of a hangover despite the amount of Glitz's ale he had consumed.
In fact...
It had been one of the best nights of sleep he could remember.
Which only reminded him of something far more embarrassing.
He had slept.
Hard.
Apparently hard enough to completely lose awareness of everything around him.
Ren sighed inwardly.
He had probably wasted several precious hours doing absolutely nothing.
For a brief moment, he considered dwelling on it.
Then he dismissed the thought.
