Isolde had been happily piling sand over Leonel just moments ago, humming to herself as she shaped what she proudly called a "masterpiece." Only his head was left visible, and even that was slightly tilted because she hadn't bothered to fix his posture.
But then—
Her attention drifted.
Her eyes wandered toward the water, drawn by movement, or maybe by instinct. She spotted Ren and Evie standing close together, the waves gently brushing against them. Something about the scene made her pause.
She completely forgot about Leonel.
"I think Ren is doing well," Isolde said after a while, resting her hands on her hips as she observed them from afar. "It's good that Evie is with him."
Leonel, who had been buried alive and abandoned, blinked slowly. The sun was glaring directly at his face, but strangely, he didn't feel as uncomfortable as he should.
"Yeah," he replied, his voice slightly dry. "I'm grateful to Evie for being there for Ren."
