"Yes, I can do that." Max nodded after a moment. This would indeed be the best way to prevent unnecessary trouble.
"Mm." Nie Xiaolu nodded, then lowered her head.
Seeing this, Max asked, "What is it, Xiaolu?"
Nie Xiaolu shook her head and sighed, "I know what you did was to save my mother and I don't feel strange because of that. But…"
She looked at him, "What if you and mother fell in love with each other?"
"Then nothing." Max said before reaching out, grabbing her arm and pulling her over and making her sit on his lap sideways.
Nie Xiaolu didn't resist or lost her composure and just looked at him with a hint of shyness in her eyes.
Max stared into her eyes and seriously added, "You will still be my wife and I'll treat you all the same."
"Mm." Nie Xiaolu hummed softly after staring at him in silence for a few seconds. She then lowered her head and after hesitating for a bit, she rested it against his chest.
