Sydney Sawyer arrived at the office early. Her work was quite varied these days.
She wasn't assigned any important tasks, but there was no shortage of trivial chores like making tea, fetching water, and printing documents.
Perhaps this was an unavoidable rite of passage for new employees.
The person training her was a man in his early thirties. Although he was a bit strict and had even chewed her out for a printing error, he wasn't a bad person. He loved tea, so the first thing Sydney Sawyer did after getting to work was to brew a pot for her mentor.
"Sawyer—" someone called as they entered the breakroom.
"Lynn," Sydney Sawyer said with a smile. "What would you like to drink? I can make it for you."
"No need, I can get it myself."
The woman picked up a single-serve teacup and tore it open, tilting her head to size her up. "Sawyer, who dropped you off this morning?"
"Hm?" Sydney Sawyer paused, taken aback.
