The cars of the Sharp and Lockwood families pulled into the compound one after another.
After they got out, they glanced at each other, all looking thoroughly awkward.
Though autumn had arrived, bringing chilly nights, the midday sun was still intense and scorching.
The Lockwoods gathered in the living room, staring at one another. The atmosphere was somber and strange, a stark contrast to the warm weather outside. Mr. Jacobs, who hadn't accompanied them, was confused. 'They were so happy when they left, so why have they all come back with such long faces?'
Especially Sebastian Lockwood. He was the man of the hour and should have been the happiest of all.
Now, even his glasses seemed to gleam with a cold light, and his eyes were completely devoid of joy.
Mr. Jacobs even teased him, saying,
"Sebastian, today is a happy occasion. Why are you copying Mr. Sharp and pulling a long face?"
Sebastian Lockwood: "..."
'That was the last name I wanted to hear right now!'
