The autumn night was growing cool, but the atmosphere inside the private room was lively. At first, everyone was a little reserved with Sylvie Lockwood present, but after a few drinks, they gradually let loose.
Sylvie Lockwood was making small talk with Ms. Alden, but her gaze kept drifting toward Ryder Sharp.
He sat in a corner surrounded by two or three people, holding a glass. His expression was blank even as he drank.
When his phone rang, he got up and stepped out to answer it.
Ryder Sharp had broad shoulders and narrow hips—a killer silhouette in his suit. His back view alone prompted several female employees to whisper excitedly among themselves. They didn't dare approach him directly, so they secretly asked Sylvie Lockwood what type of woman he liked.
"Syd?" Ryder Sharp said, having walked to a corner of the hallway to take the call.
"Have you been drinking?"
Sydney Sawyer could tell something was off with his tone.
"Just a little. Is your thing over?"
