The house is quiet by the time I leave the hall. The girls' doors are closed, the lights low, and somewhere beneath my feet the rest of the building hums its usual nightly song. I stop outside the master suite, listen to the silence for a second, and push the door open.
Katie is on the bed. She's been busy while I waited — the room is lit by a single lamp, the sheets turned down, and my slave is waiting for me exactly the way I like her. Rope coiled in her hands, a blindfold in her lap, and that look in her eyes that says she knows precisely what tonight is about.
"Master," she says softly.
I close the door behind me and take the rope from her. "You've been thinking about this all day."
"Ever since you talked about breaking in the bed." She smiles up at me.
"That's right." Most men get greeted with dinner and a kiss. Mine waits up for me with rope and a blindfold. I'm the luckiest bastard alive.
