Zola realized he had blurted everything out in his panic, causing Chloe's plan to fall apart completely. Worse, he had brought disaster upon them.
The man wasn't stupid, but to get Zola to obey and come over, he nodded and extended his hand.
"Such a good boy. Now, hurry over here. Let's get back to the car first so your little sister doesn't worry, right? Didn't you two say you'd always stick together, no matter what?"
'That's right! Back in the car, when they were holding hands, they had promised they would never be separated again.'
Zola's heart wavered. He didn't dare reach out, yet he felt he had to. He still wanted to gain the man's trust.
But as soon as he extended his hand, the man grabbed it, yanked him forward, and clamped him under his arm. Then, he started smacking his backside hard.
"You damn little mutt! You actually dared to trick me? You two brats must have a death wish. What should I do with you?"
