Chapter 601 - Empirica 1

That in itself let Alyssia learn some things about the island, like how there were no others outside even during those hours when there would usually be people out for all kinds of reasons, like staying late at a bar, drinking late into the night.

That gave off more of an impression that such things did not happen there and that there was some form of curfew in place.

The presence of the night patrols only helped to confirm that kind of assumption that Alyssia was able to come up with.

That only made it easier for her to walk around with fewer people on the streets and allowed her to get close to each of the homes to use her system to observe what types of skills were available.

The most common skills she found in the outer area were mostly related to farming and those types of things, but there was one skill that seemed to stand out the most as a result of it being the most common.

It seemed like a basic type of exercise that was quite commonly used in most of their everyday lives to promote flexibility, balance and several other parts of their everyday use of their bodies, whether it was a part of keeping their fitness and health up or to use it for combat.

After purchasing it as a unique skill, she soon found that it had just been an entry technique that was used by the masses, while the guards or soldiers had a far more developed technique that had it applied to all kinds of combat techniques.

The most interesting part was how it covered some parts that Alyssia had been missing from the various types of skills she had learned so far.

The skills of the World Government that were the Six Powers, or those related to them, granted all kinds of effects.

There was even Life Return that granted complete control over the body in many ways, but even with using all of those, it did not completely cover certain aspects that had not been fully considered to be major issues.

Those issues involved the habits that had been built up through life, like using one hand more prominently and not making full use of certain parts of the body, resulting in them not being so strong or usable.

Not only did it cover those things, but it also took note of certain situations where parts of the body could no longer be of use, so other ways needed to be used to make up for them when it came to balance and achieving perfect control to get the needed results from the body.

It was the same when it came to making better use of parts of the body that were not usually made use of or relied on, like being able to achieve greater balance by only standing on one toe at a time or without the use of it, without losing balance or power.

It was the same for holding a weapon, using fewer fingers or less prominent fingers that would usually be used more or be more heavily relied on for such a task.

There were even some parts of it that allowed for faster recovery and transitioning between movements, allowing them to be a whole lot smoother.

That kind of practice allowed much greater control over the body to be achieved in all kinds of situations, whether it was on the ground, in the water or in the air.

All kinds of different situations could lead to different applications of that technique being used to achieve different results.

If a fight was taking place in the air, then many would struggle once they jumped up there, and manoeuvring would become a lot more difficult.

It would be more like they would become a much easier target the moment that they lost the ground beneath them, and they could not fully control their movements as they would begin to fall very predictably.

If they did not have the Six Powers that included Moon Walk, then many would struggle in that type of fight when they were fighting someone who was more suited to fighting in the air or was much bigger in size.

An example would be fighting against a giant with a huge size difference, resulting in the smaller person having to jump or climb higher to aim for a much better spot to deal the giant a lot of damage, rather than having to keep targeting their legs and bring them down to the ground more.

It would be similar to how a Tontatta Tribe member would have to do the very same thing against someone with an average human-sized body, and how a human could quite easily swat them away if they jumped up into the air to attack them.

The level of control over the body that could be trained using that skill would allow for a lot better bodily control, reactions and transitions between movements already made to new ones in those types of situations.

Those movements could allow for changes in the direction of their movements even under conditions where it would be far more difficult to achieve that.

It would allow them to move their body in ways that would make it easier to dodge or reduce the impact of attacks that would normally be more difficult to avoid under those conditions.

The most important part of it was how most movements needed to be used individually, and that could be applied in other ways, like to Haki usage, Devil Fruit powers or other types of powers, whether they naturally existed or were activated.

Rather than using everything all at once, it was more important to take the time needed to master each thing individually before moving on to layer them or to switch between their usage.

It was more well-known as parallel processes involving the importance of situational awareness and the ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

The first step would be to master one ability before moving on to master the second, third and so on, while learning how to better combine or switch each of them in a way that would work best for each situation, whether it was through instinctual reactions or quick decision making.

The name of that skill was called Sacred Training, which had only let Alyssia know more about how religious the presence of Empirica Island had been as a whole.

Rather than it being more well known as purely a combat technique, it had been more well known as a training method than anything else, but it helped to get the body to become familiar with it through constant repetition.

When it had been mastered to a much higher stage and would be used in combat, it would end up being especially useful for those people to adjust to combat situations, since they would already have a lot of control over their bodies.
