Place:Drumstum Village
Time: Day
It was a normal day in Drumstum village the sky was clear, the adults going to there daily jobs while the children would go out to play . At the front entrance of the gate the guard at the watchtower yawned.
Guard:"*Yawn* What a Boring job I should have applied for the rune knights instead of being a boring bandit lookout." He complained looking out to the forest that surrounds the village the guard sees something unusual.
Guard:"What in the world?" Using his binoculars he looks at the object that seems to be moving closer at high speeds. What he sees frightens him, dropping his binoculars he rushed to the bell at the center of the tower and rings it while frantically yelling:"DRAGON THERES A DRAGON COMING EVERYONE TO YOUR POSTS AND GET THE CIVILIANS TO SAFETY!!!"
Hearing this people began to panic running around everywhere looking for there relatives or some place safe a few people fall and stands are knocked over, children crying because they are scared and the town guards rushing to the entrance with shaky arms and legs prepared to give there life for there family's. The cowards of them run away from the village hoping that they can live leaving people to die.
But among these people there was one man who walked towards the gate with a resigned expression, this was the village mayor Cronk.
Cronk:"So my time ends here huh hopefully I can get it to spare my people." He looked worryingly at the dragon that was now in sight distance.
Iris who was flying towards to village gives a snort in amusement seeing the people run around like headless chickens. Soren on her back looks deadpan at his mom for not thinking about the consequences of people seeing a huge dragon flying towards them. When Iris landed in front of the gate everything went silent.
Cronk walks up to Iris and asks in a nervous but polite tone:"Noble Dragon I am this villages leader Cronk may we ask why you are in this village?" Sweat can be seen running down his forehead.
Iris with an amused look in her eyes speaks:"Before I answer you can tell your men to relax I'm here to make a deal." Cronk noticeably relaxes and nods to the guards who all let out a sigh of relief some even crying or falling to there knees as there legs grew to weak.
Iris chuckled then with a serious tone speaks:"Village leader Cronk I am the Dragon Queen Iris,the deal I would like to propose is that in return for my protection this village will teach my son your skills from cooking to cleaning to even forge it does not matter as long as he is taught you will have a protector, do we have a deal?"
Cronk:"Noble Lady Iris while I would love to accept our teachings are mainly for human shaped beings we have no knowledge of how to teach a dragon." Sweat once again drops hoping that he has not offended the being in front of him.
Iris smiles and says:"That is fine my son is a rare form of dragon called humanoid, Soren come say hi."
Soren who was in the shadow of his mother till now comes up and nods to Cronk:"Greetings I am Soren Prince of the Dragons." Greeting Cronk with a proud yet respectful hello like his mother had taught him.
Cronk was shocked to see a child no older than 6 greet him. Bowing his head Cronk respectfully speaks:"We Respectfully accept your deal Lady Iris."
Iris:"good than we have an accord." She nods and tells Soren:"Soren I will be in the forest a little bit away so not to disturb business just call out if you need me and be sure to continue your physical and magical training."
Soren:"Yes mom" he bows his head and Iris flies off leaving an awkward silence. Clearing his throat Soren asks:"*Ahem* Mr.Cronk where will I be staying and will you please introduce me to the people who will teach me."
Cronk breaking out of thought speaks:"Yes Lord Soren you can stay at my place I live alone as for your teachers we would need to first calm everyone down since your mother Lady Iris has given everyone quite the scare,I hope that is fine with you?"
Sweat dropping Soren nods and follows the leader into the village thinking:'Mom really needs to stop being so sadistic.'

Time skip: 4 years (Soren is 10)
Place: Drumstum village
It's been 4 years since he came to this village and began to learn the ways of a human. Soren learned everything this village can offer which was quite a lot considering the size of this place, it would seem that they wanted to be independent so they knew had all the tools needed for that.

Soren took a liking to Cooking, Music and reading. He found them relaxing and even became one of the better chefs in the village. The thing that was the hardest was healing, his mother wanted him to learn heal people with his fire and while he can do small spells it was hard for him to stay in control. His control was never good and not having a mage in the village didn't help.
Soren got up from his bed in the mayors house and looked at his knife which was made from his mothers scales. The villages forger Melk was famous world wide for there sharp knifes that can cut a Boulder with ease. Most people didn't know Melk was a women who while rather intimidating is sweet to the people of the village. He also begins to remember his first kill.

Time: 1 1/2 years after he started living in Drumstum
Soren woke up with a start and ran out of his room to the mayors and knocked on the door. The mayor who was just about to go to sleep opened the door and asked:"What's wrong Soren did something happen?" Soren had worked hard to get the people of the village to calm down and finally call him by his name.
Soren:"Sorry to wake you mayor but people are coming here and they are not friendly." He said with a serious look.
Startled the mayor asks:"How long do we have?" Getting his coat and moving towards the front door.
Soren following responds:"10 minutes at most."
Going outside The mayor Cronk rings the bell signaling the guards to get ready when a guard who smells like liquor comes up to Cronk and asks:"Old man Cronk what's going on?" With a confused look.
Cronk responds:"Soren here was telling me to get ready that people are coming and are not friendly." He says seriously.
The Guard raised an eyebrow and questions:"Kid how'd you know? We haven't seen anything unusual for the last few days."
Soren:"my instincts told me" says with a straight face.
The guard is shocked:"You made all this mess because your "Instincts" what the hell kid just go back to sleep." Said angry that he was woken for such a reason.
Soren narrows his slitted eyes:"Do not forget who I am, my instincts have never been wrong they are coming so do your job and protect people." Intimidated the guard walks off and Gets ready.
Soren:"Cronk we should get going as well."
Cronk nods and walks to the gate. There he takes a pair of binoculars and looks into the forest waiting, 10 Minutes pass and they finally see movement looking at the symbol on there chest Cronk speaks yells out.
Cronk:"It's the Brook bandits!"(idk just go with it)
Shocked that Soren was right guards rushed out to intercept the bandits. The bandits rush from the trees with a screaming charge.
*Clank**Slice**Bonk*
All around guards engaged with bandits some falling and others killing it was a bloody scene. Soren was in the middle of it all cutting down foe after foe sometimes using magic to protect the guards. After some time the leader of the bandits come out and throws Water magic at Soren.
Leader cockily said:"Hah! A shame you ran into me kid you can do anything against my water magic."
Soren who let the water ball hit him was unharmed:"How weak." Then let a torrent of fire consume the bandit leader.
Leader:"AGGGGGGHHHHHH!" He cried out as the flames consumed him leaving nothing. Watching this happen the other bandits get scared and run away.
After some Time healing and cleaning everything up Soren walks to Cronk:"was there any loss?"
Cronk nods and shows 3 body's covered in a sheet:"Yes but because of you we were ready for them if not we might have loss more,thank you Soren" he was grateful for Soren's warning it saved a lot of people.
Soren nods and says:"I'm going to my mother to check on her and to see why she didn't help, she wouldn't do this without a reason." Cronk nods and Soren leaves to the forest where his mother stays.
Iris seeing Soren speaks:"You did well for your first battle child though even if you didn't get hurt you shouldn't have let that water ball hit you, you never know when an attack might appear weak but be actually strong or carries a curse."
Nodding Soren asks:"Was that why you didn't help so I can get experience?" He was not angry just curious.
Nodding Iris says:"Yes child you are getting stronger but even the strongest can lose because of lack of experience. To help you grow I let them attack though if it is something you cannot handle I will help. Also how was your first kill?" She asked curious how he will handle it.
Soren thinks for a moment and said:"I didn't really feel much from it, I knew it was kill or be killed though I won't go out of my way to kill if it does come down to it I wouldn't be affected." He says honestly, should people come for his life with ill intentions he will kill should they come with miss understanding he would give them a chance to speak if not he will kill. He did not have the same limitations as humans did.
Iris nods with a proud smile:"Good should you have froze up I would need to beat you to correct your understanding. Now let's sleep child." Nodding he walks up to her and lays on the ground and sleeps.

Time: Present day
Soren coming out of his thoughts couldn't help but feel something was wrong today his instincts were yelling at him to go to his mother. So getting up and telling the mayor where he was going Soren leaves the village and goes to his moms nesting area. There he sees something disturbing.
Iris was there sitting but around her the trees and grass was burned rocks and boulders smashed. Rushing up to her Soren speaks.
Soren:"Mother! What happened?!" Asked urgently.
Iris Looks at Soren and sighs:"Soren…" her tone sad but accepting.
Soren:"Mother what's wrong?" Worried his mom was never like this, something was wrong very wrong.
Iris looks at her son for a moment and raised her head looking at the sky then speaks:"Soren… I'm dying."
Soren's eyes went wide and his hands started shaking he yelled in an worried tone.
Soren:"WHAT DO YOU MEAN!" Scared to lose his dear mother.
Iris:"It's just like I said child I'm dying."In a reserved tone.
Soren asks:"But why!?"
Iris explains:"It happened before you were born, back then I had 3 eggs they were you and your siblings. I was waiting for you to hatch but was attacked by an evil dragon. Back then he wanted to eat you and when he failed he destroyed 2 eggs killing your siblings and rattling you enough to kill you but not break your egg, it wasn't till later that your other mother Hestia helped bring you back but that's not the point. Angry I killed the Dragon but at his final moments he Cursed me. I thought nothing of it but now the curse has grown to great and slowly but surely I will lose my mind and attack and kill everything. Basically I will be dead and a beast of destruction will be in my body killing until it is put down." When she was speaking Soren was in tears, why had she never told him? How much pain was she in? How long does she have? Questions kept coming up so he asked.
Soren with tears and a quiet voice:"Is there no way to save you?" It was as soft as a whisper.
Shaking her head Iris says:"No it was too late when I found out now nothing will work… We have a few months before I die. Can you let me request something of you my son?"
Soren crying speaks:"Anything mother"
Iris picks up Soren and holds him close to her body Soren lays his head on her underbelly.
Iris:"When the time comes and I am no longer myself…Kill me." She says.
Soren went stiff the looks into his mothers eyes with a shocked and angry face.
Soren:"NO! WHY WOULD YOU ASK THAT I DONT WANT TO KILL YOU!" He refused why did she want him to kill her!.
Iris in a soft tone says:"Because I don't want to die at another's hand. I would prefer it be you my son, the one I love the most in this world. When I'm dead my body will be alive but I will be nothing but a beast that will kill so I wish for my death to be by your hands." It was hard to say this tears ran from her eyes, but she would not take it back. If she were to die she will die in by his hands and no others.
Gritting his teeth he lays back on her stomach and cry's then he hesitantly nods knowing she will not back down from this.
Seeing him nod Iris hugs her child and closes her eyes in acceptance happy he agreed now she can pass on without regrets. They lay there in each other's embrace both accepting and fearing what is to come.
