Chapter 70 - Keep it down

Alex finally understood why he felt no magic inside the goat. Because its no longer alive.

Alex stepped closer to the goat and placed his hand on its still warm fur. "Thank you," he said.

'Its been fun'

Alex heard out of nowhere and he frantically looked around.

"Is something wrong?" Elijah asked, confused why Alex seemed to be looking for something.

"Oh its... nothing." Alex shook himself. 'So only I heard it.' he pondered as he looked at the recently deceased goat.

Storm and Dagat approached the three, still wary of the thunderbeast looming overhead.

Dagat made some water and touched Leslie's shoulder and the water began subtly glowing. Alex and Elijah had no clue what Dagat is doing but it didn't seem he had bad intentions.

While this is happening, the two other thunderbeasts walked towards them. The warriors' curiosity was peaked so they followed close behind, all of them wary of the gigantic beast in front of them.

Moment after Dagat sat down and began whatever he's doing, a weird scene is painted. Three gigantic wolf-like beasts surrounding four people tending to their injured, and a larger group of warriors circling them. Datu Shula and Tlaloc among them.

AWWOOOOO!!!!

The thunderbeast with her cub howled followed by the other two, which made the warriors suddenly apprehensive as they raised their battle stance, ready for another onslaught of lightning from above, but nothing happened.

All four of the thunderbeasts just slowly walked away, not even bothering another glance towards the warriors.

The warriors breathed a sigh of relief.

On the other side of the devastated battlefield, Kristin could still be seen running towards where the fights were, making stops to help the injured warriors she encountered and pointed them towards the make shift hospital.

But before she even got there, the entire battlefield became silent and still, no sound of exploding magic and colorful display of different elements, she just saw the three gigantic wolves walking away after a howl.

"Is it over?" She said to herself as she ran faster.

"Hey, what's happening?" Kristin asked the nearest warrior when she arrived.

"The heroes did it, it seemed they created a miracle." The warrior spoked in awe.

"Huh?" Kristin weaved through the crowd, then saw Leslie unconscious and ran towards them, "What happened?"

"Long story, we'll talk about it when we return to the village." Said Elijah.

Datu Storm called over a warrior to carry Leslie, "Handle her with care," he ordered.

The warrior nodded and carried her princess-style.

"We'll take our leave now, we must heal our hero and injured." Storm waved farewell and turned to walk towards the village of wind.

The other datus nodded and called for their respective warriors as well.

And everyone made their way home.

Some warriors went to fetch their comrades that were on the make-shift hospital and assisted them.

A few days has went on before Leslie woke up. During this time, all the villages recuperate.

It was unfortunate but expected that warriors from each village were killed during the battle.

They were mourned but there's no body to hold the ceremonial burying because they were either crushed into paste or burned to ashes by lightning. Instead there were empty graves placed under the trees where the other warriors were buried.

It was sad, depressing even, but isn't uncommon. They will be remembered as warriors who fought bravely in battle, just like everyone else.

The Tribe of Swirling Winds is more quiet than before. Elijah didn't even notice how noisy it was until after the battle.

It's around afternoon when Leslie finally woke up.

When she opened her eyes she saw Joana looking over her, eyes filled with worry.

"Grandma Crane! She's awake!" Joana jumped.

"Keep it down! The village is still in vigil!" Crane walked over and smacked Joana on the back of her head with her cane. "Besides you should be resting, even though you ignored my instruction of not using magic."

Joana scratched her head and went back to her bed, "We heard you did a miracle, is it true?" She whispered excitedly.

"Save the chit-chat for later, you just woke up this morning too so don't go pushing yourself." Crane said as she checked up on Leslie, and then stood up and began crushing and grinding herb then mixed it with water.

"Drink this, you haven't eaten in days, herb supplements can only last you for so long without proper food." Crane then grabbed two wooden cups and equally split the herb soup.

Joana's face went green as she saw the bitter herbs mixed in. Leslie on the other hand just took the cup, took a sniff, and chugged it down.

"How can you just, drink this?" Joana paled as she saw Leslie just chug down the bitter herbs, after smelling it at that!

"Hm? I mean its not that bitter though, a pickle is infinitely worse though, I kinda like it." Leslie explained as she thanked Crane and handed back the cup.

"Looks like someone isn't a picky eater." Crane complemented then glared at Joana, "Drink, or you'll get no food tonight."

Joana's face paled as she pinched her nose and drank the herb soup.
