**Corporal Kira Emberwhisk's Log, Supplemental**
**Atlantian Main Island, Jungle Overlook recording**
**37 days after Rothgard's Fall**
Beauty and ruin share the same horizon.
The jungle pressed in on all sides. Every step was a calculated risk. Roots snaked across the narrow trail, thick vines hung like nooses, and the air was heavy with the scent of wet earth and distant smoke. Even this deep in the green, the presence of the occupied capital was impossible to ignore. The distant ring of hammers from the dock works carried on the wind, punctuated by the occasional bark of orders and the low murmur of forced labor crews. Black smoke from the forges stained the fading sky.
Kira moved with quiet precision, her ears constantly swiveling. Behind her, Elias Crowe, Lena Blackwood, Soren Vale, and Selene Varyn kept tight formation, their movements hushed but tense. Sergeant Elena "Ghost" Reyes led without wasted motion, guiding them along a game trail that wound toward the ridge. They reached the old stone ruins just as the sun began to sink. The squad fanned out among the broken pillars, using the ancient stone for cover. For a moment, no one spoke.
Below them, the Atlantian capital stretched across the land in layers of stone and suffering. The massive dock works dominated the southwest, where Imperial galleons and troop transports sat heavy in their berths. The Merchant District bustled under heavy guard. Further in, the Noble District gleamed with torchlight while the Castle District stood like a dark crown at the center. Even from this distance, the signs of occupation were clear—patrols moving along the walls, chained laborers being herded toward the docks, and black banners hanging from every major tower.
Despite it all, the sunset was hauntingly beautiful. Golden light spilled across the water and stone, painting the city in warm hues that almost made it look at peace. Then the comm charms on their belts gave a soft, synchronized beep. Reyes glanced down, then looked back at the city with a thin, sharp smile. "Time to ruin the view."
The sky tore open.
Dozens of brilliant white streaks tore down from the upper atmosphere, moving so fast they left glowing scars across the twilight. The first wave slammed into the industrial heart of the capital. Factories and military barracks erupted in violent fireballs, their roofs peeling upward in sheets of flame. Mana crystal storage nodes detonated in cascading blue-white secondary explosions that lit up the entire western district like daylight.
The squad instinctively dropped lower behind the ruined stone as the shockwaves rolled across the jungle. As more streaks of fire followed in rapid succession with sonic booms. Warehouses packed with war material vanished in towering columns of smoke and fire. Then the strikes found the harbor.
Capital galleons and troop transports were hit in rapid succession. One massive galleon split down the middle with a sound like thunder, its masts collapsing as fire consumed its decks. Troop transports were torn apart where they sat. Every vessel flying the Imperial flag was reduced to burning wreckage and twisted steel. Within moments, the southwest dock works had become a churning graveyard of shattered ships, sunken hulls, and flaming debris. The harbor was completely disabled.
Kira stared, ears flat against her skull, tail rigid. Even from this distance, the scale of the devastation was overwhelming. The capital's ability to wage war had just been torn out in seconds. Sergeant Reyes watched the last missiles impact, then turned away from the ridge without ceremony. "Extraction site. Now," she said, already moving down the stone steps. "Or I leave you here to enjoy the show." For a moment, no one moved. The distant roar of secondary explosions continued to roll across the island like thunder.
Kira blinked, the weight of what they had just witnessed settling over her like a physical thing. Everything had changed. The careful balance of armies, the slow grind of occupation, the idea that power belonged to those who held the most swords — it had all just been rewritten in fire from above. She looked at her squad. Elias, Lena, Soren, and Selene were still staring at the burning harbor, the orange glow reflected in their eyes. Kira turned and followed Reyes into the darkening jungle. The others fell in behind her without a word, moving faster now, as if the world itself had shifted beneath their feet.
Behind them, the capital continued to burn.
