**Captain James Nolan's Log, Supplemental**
**Discovery Command Center recording**
**37 days after Rothgard's Fall**
The black tide falters. The stars answer.
The command center conference room remained wrapped in heavy silence as the large screen continued to display the real-time feeds. Satellite imagery, thermal, and SAR radar overlays painted a stark picture of the Draco Imperia fleet below. The once-orderly formation of black-sailed ships had ground to a chaotic halt, with vessels drifting in disarray across the eastern ocean. Shockwaves from the hypersonic railgun strikes still rippled outward, visible as expanding rings of disturbed water and shattered debris.
Kitsune Vulpine's nine tails lay perfectly still, her golden-orange eyes locked on the screen with regal intensity. Brynna Stonevein leaned forward slightly, her sharp features tight with strategic calculation. Lord Alister Greymoor maintained his diplomatic composure, though his knuckles were white on the edge of the table. Durin Fireforge stared with wide-eyed fascination, fingers twitching as if already sketching new runes. Grim Stonefist sat like carved granite, his gruff scowl deepening into something closer to grim satisfaction.
On the SAR radar overlay, the fleet's movement had ceased entirely. Lesser dragons, thrown from their perches by the blasts, flailed in the water alongside crews blown overboard by the shockwaves. Small figures treaded desperately amid the churn, while surviving ships lowered boats and ropes in frantic rescue efforts. The black tide that had seemed unstoppable only moments ago now looked broken and vulnerable.
A.L.I. spoke first, her voice precise and calm as she interpreted the data. "Strike impact confirmed. All targeted greater dragons neutralized. Six vessels show significant structural damage but remain afloat. Fleet cohesion has collapsed. Rescue operations are underway for approximately two hundred and forty survivors in the water. No further immediate threats detected from the dragon contingent."
Nolan exhaled slowly, his shoulders relaxing a fraction as satisfaction settled over him. "Good. Phase Two begins now." He turned to the delegations, his tone steady but resolute. "Squads from our Crash-Course Company—First Army, First Company—will drop near Imperial naval infrastructure across the Atlantian Islands and the eastern continent's coastal strongholds. Their mission is to identify and relay precise coordinates for stand-off strikes using hypersonic air-to-ground missiles launched from beyond the horizon. Surface teams will be paired with Delta operators to coordinate directly with Discovery and our fighters for strikes. Ground teams will also identify Persons of Interest to further destabilize the Imperial command hierarchy… and seed propaganda."
Kitsune's regal gaze sharpened. "Propaganda? What sort of propaganda would you spread among them, Captain?" Nolan answered with a faint, knowing smirk. "The Imperia has angered the gods, and any fleet of war that sails west will find only death waiting for them." The room absorbed his words in a charged hush. Grim's gruff voice broke the silence first, practical and direct. "Dropping our fresh cadets into the heart of the enemy? Bold. But if they can mark targets that cleanly, it could end this faster than any siege we've ever known."
Durin's inventive mind was already turning. "Hypersonic missiles from beyond the horizon… invisible death from the sky itself. No warning, no defense. We could cripple their shipyards before they even understand what's happening. How do the teams survive the insertion and extraction?"
Nolan gestured to the holographic table as it updated with drop-pod trajectories and night-insertion vectors. "They insert using our VS-44 shuttles at night, a few miles from the major cities closest to the targets. The shuttles stay low and quiet, drop the teams, then withdraw to a safe orbit while the squads move in on foot. Extraction follows the same stealth profile once coordinates are confirmed."
Brynna's measured tone carried the weight of long experience. "It is a decisive move, Captain. Yet we must be certain the Persons of Interest you target are truly the architects of this tyranny, not merely its tools. The Four Kingdoms will stand with you, but precision matters." Lord Alister nodded cautiously, diplomatic caution evident in his words. "We agree with the modified plan. Striking infrastructure while avoiding unnecessary civilian slaughter preserves the moral high ground we will need when this war ends."
Kitsune's regal gaze remained fixed on the screen, her voice soft but firm. "The Imperia has shown us no mercy. We will show them none in return. Proceed, Captain." Nolan gave a single decisive nod. "Then it is settled." He turned to A.L.I. "Begin Phase Two preparations. Launch the first drop teams as soon as the cadets are ready." The holographic table flickered with new overlays as orders went out. The delegations watched in tense silence as the reality of their alliance took its first irreversible step. The black fleet below continued its chaotic drift, unaware that the stars themselves had already chosen sides.
