It was a bad and rainy Wednesday for everyone in Matthew High School in Matterville, Florida, and I, Jack Wilson was especially was having a bad day. "I can't believe I flunked Spanish" I muttered under my breath as I ran to the cafeteria.
When I got there I saw Matt, my best friend. "You won't believe this, I flunked Spanish!" I told him.
He took a HUGE gulp of water, sprayed it everywhere then said loudly "YOU FAILED THE EASIEST CLASS" and started laughing.
"Stop it'' I started, ''you failed English last Monday so-" the bell cut me off before I could finish my sentence. "See ya after school Jack," Matt said as he walked off towards his Spanish class.
"Jack? Jack, Jack, JACK!̈" Ms.Fletcher yelled, " huh?" I replied, "What is 23 × 73?" she asked. ̈'Oh, that's one thousand seven hundred -" the bell cut me off the 2nd time today.
I was one of the 99% of people that left math class as fast as they could. As I was walking out of the school I saw Matt on his iPhone. "̈Matt, Matt" I yelled,
"Oh hey" Matt replied," You want to go to the lake?" I asked him," Sure, I guess" he replied.
10 minutes later,
Unlike the many time we´ve visited the lake, the water was a light neon shade of green and there were weeds and algae everywhere "global warming is real huh" Matt mumbled under his breath.
"Haha" I replied sarcastically. "This water looks disgusting," I said.
"Duh," Matt replied. I was thinking to myself if a fish or something else could survive in the water. Just to start a conversation I said "someone told me that a few people were murdered and thrown into the water.",
" honestly, I feel bad for the murderer because the water probably splashed on his shoes." Matt responded. I let out a forced laugh. I heard something rustling in a bush nearby, "Matt?" I said,
"Yeah, I heard it too" Matt replied,
"Anyone there?" I asked whatever was in the bush. Jessica from school jumped out. Matt lightly elbowed my arm because he knew I had a thing for her. "were you stalking us?" I asked
"h*ll no, I was looking for Lizards," she replied,
" You guys want to do a rock skipping contest?" I asked,
"Sure " Jessica replied to my question.
"If both of you are doing it, I'm doing it too, I'm all into that peer-pressure sh*t." Matt said. "okay, let's go look for our rocks now".
"Oh I'm going to destroy you guys," Jessica said.
1 ROCK SKIPPING CONTEST LATER
"I told you I would destroy you," Jessica said. I got so mad I threw a rock into the water.
"Whoa there buddy," Matt told me,
"Sorry" I replied.
30 Minutes of talking and messing around later
"Hey, Matt," I asked him
"Hm," He responded,
"We should go home now."
"sure". We were just walking home… That was the first time we saw a Plague. We heard shuffling and groaning behind us I turned around and I saw a man reaching for us he looked… wrong, he looked like he was decaying, no he was decaying,
"RUN" I yelled, I sprinted to my house's treehouse I looked behind me I saw Matt and Jessica following me. We finally got to the treehouse and I climbed up the ladder after Matt and Jessica climbed up the ladder I pulled the ladder onto the Treehouse so no one could come in. We were all quiet until Matt said: "What the FUCK was that?"
"I don't know" I replied
"What should we call them," Jessica asked us as she pointed to one shuffling down the street
"Zombies" Matt answered,
"No, they don't look like zombies so let's call them what they are, Plagues."
"Actually I'm okay with that" Matt said "That's pretty good," Jessica said. "AHHHH" "What was that?" Matt asked "SH*T" we looked around for a second until I heard Jessica say "over there" as she pointed to the library, we saw a kid with books in his arms running away from a few plagues while cussing.
