If he had to sacrifice a few years of his lifespan just to find Ryley, he would do it without hesitation.
He drew deeply upon the power and forced his senses into the subliminal realm, searching for the faintest trace of Ryley's scent.
Once he found it, Clyde followed the trail immediately, moving through the realm until the scent suddenly vanished.
His eyes snapped open.
The Grand Library.
He took a mental note of that place—the same shelf where Ryley's scent had mysteriously disappeared when he tried to track him down.
Without thinking, Clyde rushed there.
He pushed through the library doors and hurried between the shelves until he reached the exact spot.
But Ryley was nowhere to be seen. Clyde searched the surrounding shelves, his breathing growing heavier as he desperately looked for even the faintest trace of him. There was nothing. The scent simply ended there.
"No… Ryley…" The name slipped from his lips almost unconsciously.
