Chapter 96 - Riding on a sponsor's cocktail

"are you Gisele?" A woman walked up to her as soon as she walking into the fitting room.

Gisele nodded "yes I am"

"I'm Sharon, the costume director. What took you so long?" The woman introduced and questioned hurriedly. Once she sighted the beautiful girl that walked in, she had made a wild guess that she was the supposed female lead, in the end she was right. The director was really not stingy with his praises when he had described her.

"Sorry I was caught in traffic" Gisele explained apologetically.

"That's okay, quick go and try out the first set of clothes" The lady stuffed a bunch of outfits into her hands and pushed her into the dressing room.

Someone exclaimed "that's the Female lead?! I've not seen her face in any movie before! She really is just a rookie!"

"what is Scriptwriter William thinking? Making an ordinary rookie take the lead role, does he care about his movie at all? Why isn't the Director saying anything too?" Other ladies in the room began complaining once Gisele walkedd into the dressing room.

"It's because he doesn't care that he insists on making her take the role. I heard he's making the movie for his wife"

"Even still! Some of us are here to make a living, what if her bad acting flops the movie later? Are we supposed to endure because she's chosen by the Scriptwriter and has a vixen face"

One by one they complained in audible tones. None of them had prove that her acting was bad but since she looked easy to pick on, they chose to pick trouble with her, plus she was super beautiful and that was a fact none of them were willing to accept. The strong would always pick on the weak, that was the entertainment industry status quo.

Splank!

One of the ladies threw a comb to the ground angrily and stood up "I can't let this slide! I have to have a talk with Mr Williams and Director John!" Her angry voice drowned the other voices of displeasure. Everyone else quoted down to let her speak, since they knew who she was.

Jocelyn is a popular B-list actress that was renowned in the industry not for her acting skills but her bloated bad temper and her Elite of a cousin -Olivia, who wass an even more popular actress. With her kind of temper, it was still surprising that she had agreed to come for the fitting or even take the roles when her cousin was usurped.

"Look at Sis Oliv, all because of a sl*tty vixen, her role was snatched and sshe was reduced to a mere supporting female lead. What does Mr Williams think he's doing!" Jocelyn complained bitterly, most of her anger fid not come from her cousin's role being swapped but also her own role being snatched!

Their company had prepared Iliviy to be the Female lead and naturally, she was arranged to be the Supporting female lead but then this newbie had dropped out of nowhere and snatched the female lead role. In the end Olivia was compensated with the supporting role while she was reduced to a mere cast!

How could she accept this calmly. This was supposed to be her golden opportunity to win a supporting Female lead award but now everything haf been spoilt by that rookie girl!

"It does sound illogical, how can he swap Olivia for an unknown Rookie?"

"Do you think there could have been backdoor deals?"

It only needed a few lines of baseless assumption to get the other also insinuating things rashly. A beautiful girl was elevated so high on just her first debut into the entertainment industry, surely all of them had the same thought on what unspoken rule had been broken.

The famous act of riding on a sponsor's cocktail Wass not unfamiliar to any of them in the room.

Albeit, neither of them could swear that they did not have someone somewhere who exchanges a few resources in exchange for aa little 'something'. Even so at the moment, they all chose to act like saints and discuss the 'disgusting' new actress who was supposedly flaunting the connection of her old male lover.

"So disgusting"

"I never knew the great Wilcox could also subject to such shenanigan"

"now I feel so disgusted acting in a movie with such an immoral person"

"enough!" A clear cold voice ordered crisply

The room went into silence, now everyone had their eyes placed on the young lady seated in front of one of the dressing room tables.

Olivia's face was black. Listening to the conversation around the table had made her even angrier than she was before she came here this morning.

How could such as baseless and groundless actress have surpassed her?

She was absolutely infuriated by the news and if it wasn't that this movie was a script from the godly writer Mr Williams, she would have walked out already. Never in her life had she acted as a supporting female lead since she debuted but they were making her take up the rooe, now that made her feel like she had fallen from grass to grace, even if everyone said she now had a chance to win an award for the first time in her Career.

"Sis Olivia don't stop them from talking, they are making that thing take your position, if you're too kind hearted to fight, let others fight for you" Jocelyn righteously spat out. Her acting right on par to boil peoples anger for the 'damsel in distress'.

"Stop it Jocelyn. It's Mr Williams movie, I was even lucky to have garnered the supporting lead role. The competition was fierce this time" Olivia hide her anger and went along with an aggrieved look.

"Fierce yet a nobody squeezed in from the backdoor without even undergoing the audition. If they don't give us an explanation don't they think they are slapping us all on our faces?!" Jocelyn pressed. She did not really dare walk up to Mr Williams to question him but if she could instigate others to earnestly show their dissatisfaction to this female lead, the Director,, Producer and Scriptwriter would have no choice but to concede to their request.

"Yes!"

"Who knows is she can even act?!"

"she might not even carry the cast well. Wouldn't he feel like she is slapping his own mouth too? After all who was the person that said only those that could live out his characters was worthy to join the cast?"

Just as they were all murmuring and complaining, the dressing room door opened and a figure walked out.

The girl had her jet black hair falling like clear waters of a waterfall at her back, a pale green gown dinner on her fair body, the sleeves of the gown seemed longer than her head but instead of making her look stupid, she appeared so cute and naive, especially with the pink rose clip pinned to the corner of her hair. As she struggled to fold the sleeves, her lips showed a troubled pout and her brows folded beautifully into a loosed arc.

While Gisele wondered how the sleeves were two times her size, others in the room were entranced into seeing the cute side of the young female lead. She looked like she had just walked right out of one of the scenes in the script.

"Did you test the others?" Amongst the stunned silence, the costume Director walked up to her.

"Yes, they all fit perfectly but this piece seems much bigger than it Should be" Gisele replied oblivious of the conversation that had transpired before she walked in. Her unexpected entrance and striking resemblance to one of the scenes in the script had brought an abrupt end to the gossips and snide comment.

"I see that, we'll reduce it a little x it's for scene 57. Go change out of it and give it to my assistant then test the rest" Sharon instructed and went back to checking other artist's costumes. Truthfully, she had also worried that the girl would be just a flower vase but seeing her now gave her confidence in Mr Williams choice.

Gisele nodded and went back to the dressing room.

"Just now she really have the feeling of seeing Mia herself" one actress blurted out.

"I know right. I almost thought his wife had come to act as himself but then I remembered that Mia should be old by now" another commented.

Truth us none of them had actually seen Mia in person but as per the description Writer Williams had written in his novel, the girl from earlier looked exactly like she was Mia.

"Rubbish!" Jocelyn roared, cutting the discussion that was starting to spread "what Mia? That was just that girl trying to deceive you lot, she probably know only to look cute and weak and would not even have an inkling on how to act like the independent Mia. Beside who couldn't pull off such an easy look, she probably didn't come out in other costumes because she knows she look terrible. Would she even be able to look like Mia when she dressed like a pilot as well as Sister Olivia did?!"
