Chapter 1189: Fragments of Divinities.
The Empire was many things that others might consider bad: a militaristic and meritocratic Empire at its core, a rigid aristocracy where the entire top of the Empire was made up only of the Emperor's family, with no possibility for anyone else to take advantage of this because everyone at the top was the Emperor's wives and the Emperor's daughters, and all of them were extremely loyal to him. If you approached some of these women with bad intentions, the only thing awaiting you was an agonizing death at the hands of a cosmic horror.
Even beings who tend to be more unbalanced and don't know the meaning of limits, such as gods, understood this fact, though not without sacrifice, of course. A god from the Shinto pantheon said that he would love to have Hinata as his wife. The next day, that same god disappeared forever, and when Susanoo asked Amaterasu about it, all he got was a cold, indifferent answer.
"He is dead."
