Chapter 15 - Watching Over the Prince

After Fullus, Plifer, and Lylia finished tidying up the conference room, they immediately headed to the next building and climbed the stairs to the second floor.

They stopped in front of Commander-in-Chief Slieve's office.

Fullus knocked on the door.

"Come in."

After receiving permission, Fullus opened the door.

He entered the room with Plifer and Lylia following closely behind.

Kruel, Commander Slieve's right-hand man, quietly closed the door behind them.

The three of them bowed respectfully to Empress Grilly, Commander-in-Chief Slieve, and Chief Fludd.

"We apologize for arriving late, Your Majesty."

Fullus said while keeping his head bowed.

"It's alright, my son."

Empress Grilly smiled warmly.

"I understand how busy you've been."

She stood up and walked toward Fullus before gently embracing him.

Fullus remained still.

He didn't return the hug.

"You've been working far too hard."

She gently rubbed his back.

"You've sacrificed so much just to restore peace to our world."

"I almost lost you once."

"Please... get some rest."

"Prince Drieshan is still memorizing the book."

"Let Plifer and Lylia watch over him for now."

"You should return to the palace and recover your strength."

Fullus wanted to protest.

Before he could speak...

Plifer stepped forward.

"Forgive me for interrupting, Your Majesty."

"I've been trying to persuade Prince Fullus to rest for days."

"But I'm only his subordinate."

He bowed respectfully.

"If Your Majesty orders him to rest..."

"...I'm sure he'll finally listen."

"Lylia and I will continue watching over Prince Keishii."

"We'll report everything to Prince Fullus every day."

Lylia also bowed.

Fullus sighed quietly.

He couldn't refuse this time.

"...Alright."

He looked at Plifer.

"I'll accept your request."

"But I want a report every single day."

"If anything happens to Kei..."

"Tell me immediately."

Plifer smiled.

"Understood."

Empress Grilly smiled with relief.

"Good."

"Now you can finally rest."

"You'll need your strength once Prince Drieshan is ready to begin his training."

Fullus nodded.

"As you wish, Your Majesty."

Commander Slieve then cleared his throat.

"Very well."

"Let's begin."

Fullus looked confused.

"Begin what?"

Commander Slieve opened a document.

"This morning, at around ten thirty..."

"Our undercover soldiers in the Human World sent us an urgent report."

"There was chaos in the forest south of Krimok..."

"...near the Giant Demon Castle."

"The Death Wolves suddenly became violent."

Fullus's expression immediately changed.

"The southern forest..."

He looked at Plifer.

"Isn't that where we sent Kei back?"

Plifer nodded slowly.

"Yes..."

"Prince Keishii has done something we never expected."

Chief Fludd crossed his arms.

"Perhaps that's why the Death Wolves became enraged."

The room fell silent.

Empress Grilly sighed.

"Fullus."

"I don't want you worrying about this."

"Let Commander Slieve, Plifer, and Lylia handle the investigation."

"You need to recover."

Fullus reluctantly nodded.

"...Understood."

They gathered around the large map spread across the table.

For several hours, they discussed ways to keep their secret hideout hidden from the Death Wolves and other demon creatures.

Eventually...

The meeting ended.

Fullus could no longer concentrate.

Empress Grilly personally escorted him back to the palace.

Plifer glanced at Lylia.

She looked back at him.

"We should leave too."

The two of them bowed respectfully.

"We'll take our leave now."

Chief Fludd nodded.

"Be careful."

"We'll continue monitoring the situation from here."

"We understand."

Plifer and Lylia quietly left the room.

A cloud of black smoke appeared before them.

Within seconds...

They arrived in front of the No Entry room.

The two of them entered.

Inside, they saw Kei sitting quietly at his desk, still reading the thick magic book.

Lylia looked at Plifer.

Plifer smiled.

"Our prince is still studying."

Lylia sat down.

"Will Chief Fullus know what we're doing?"

Plifer laughed softly.

"Relax."

"Prince Fullus will always find a way."

He gently patted Lylia's head.

"Stop touching my head!"

Lylia glared at him.

Plifer immediately raised both hands.

"Alright, alright."

"I'm sorry."

He grinned.

"But you're adorable."

"Like a little princess."

He leaned closer as if he wanted to pinch her cheek.

Smack!

Lylia slapped him across the face.

Plifer rubbed his sore cheek.

"Lylia..."

"We don't have time to fool around."

She folded her arms.

"Then start working."

Plifer sighed dramatically.

"...Yes, Princess."

Lylia ignored him completely.

Her eyes remained fixed on Kei.

"We need to learn everything about demonic powers, don't we?"

Plifer nodded.

"But how?"

"We're only half-beast demons."

"We don't fully understand the powers of a true demon."

Lylia thought quietly.

"You still have the records of everyone's abilities, right?"

Plifer nodded.

He walked toward a bookshelf and searched through several files before finding the one he wanted.

He handed it to Lylia.

She read through it carefully.

A few moments later...

She looked at Kei again.

"He fell asleep."

She then looked at the open book on Kei's desk.

"What chapter is he reading?"

Plifer leaned closer.

"...The chapter about half-magicians."

Lylia nodded.

"Write everything down."

"His schedule."

"What chapter he reads."

"What he does every day."

Plifer nodded again.

"I'll record everything."

Lylia looked back at the files.

"For now..."

"I'll search for information about true demons."

"We need to understand them before Prince Keishii awakens his demon."

"Understood."

Plifer smiled.

"As you wish..."

"...Princess Lylia."

Lylia rolled her eyes but said nothing.

Plifer turned to look at Kei once more.

"Keishii..."

"You've only been back in the Human World for one day..."

"Yet you've already given Fullus more work than anyone else."

He smiled faintly.

"Protect both worlds, Keishii."

"You're the only hope we have."

Lylia glanced at him.

"What happened to the cold and serious Plifer?"

She tilted her head curiously.

Plifer simply smiled...

Without answering her question.
