Chapter 129 - The Arch That Remembered

The stone arch burst into golden light.

Not a gentle glow.

Not a steady flame.

A sudden, violent brightness.

As though the ancient stone had awakened after centuries of silence.

Feroz staggered backward.

The platform shook beneath his feet.

Cracks spread across the stone in every direction.

The silver lights continued racing across the bridges.

Dozens.

Then hundreds.

Like stars searching through darkness.

The older Feroz stepped in front of the arch.

His expression had changed completely.

No calmness.

No patience.

Only urgency.

Real urgency.

"Go."

Feroz did not move.

"What are they?"

"There isn't time."

"You just told me to find Haroon before Rahim does."

"What does that mean?"

The older Feroz looked at him.

For a brief moment, the fear in his eyes softened.

Not disappeared.

Softened.

"It means the waiting is over."

Another tremor shook the Hall.

Far below, the Echo Well roared.

Not with voices.

With silence.

A silence so deep it felt wrong.

Feroz's heart tightened.

"Why Haroon?"

The older Feroz did not answer immediately.

Instead, he looked toward the approaching silver lights.

They were much closer now.

Crossing the final bridges.

Entering the outer chambers.

Searching.

Hunting.

Then he finally spoke.

"Because Haroon is looking for you."

Feroz blinked.

"I know that."

"No."

The older Feroz shook his head.

"You know he was looking for you."

"I am telling you he is close."

A strange feeling passed through Feroz.

Hope.

Fear.

Relief.

All at once.

Haroon was close.

Somewhere beyond the Learning Path.

Still searching.

Still refusing to give up.

Just as Younus and Ibn Younus had refused to stop searching for a route to him.

The older Feroz continued.

"If Rahim reaches him first…"

He stopped.

Feroz frowned.

"What happens?"

The older Feroz looked directly into his eyes.

"Then the wrong question will be answered first."

Feroz stared.

The answer made no sense.

Yet somehow it felt important.

The silver lights reached the edge of the platform.

They stopped.

Hovering.

Watching.

None of them crossed onto the platform.

It was as if an invisible boundary held them back.

Feroz looked at them carefully.

Each light was small.

No larger than a hand.

Yet each carried an overwhelming presence.

Not human.

Not alive.

Not dead.

Searching.

One of the lights moved closer.

Just to the edge of the boundary.

Then it stopped.

The older Feroz's voice became sharp.

"Do not speak to them."

Feroz immediately obeyed.

The light hovered silently.

Then another joined it.

Then another.

Within moments, dozens of silver lights surrounded the platform.

None crossed the boundary.

None attacked.

They simply watched.

As though confirming something.

As though memorizing him.

Feroz swallowed.

"Do they know who I am?"

The older Feroz answered quietly.

"They know enough."

"Enough for what?"

"Enough to begin."

The words sent a chill through him.

The older Feroz turned toward the glowing arch.

"Listen carefully."

"When you leave this place, the world will not wait for you to understand everything."

Feroz remained silent.

"Haroon is moving."

"Younus is moving."

"Ibn Younus is moving."

"Haya is moving."

"Sameer is moving."

"The Free Masons are moving."

"And somewhere…"

He looked toward the darkness beyond the silver lights.

"…Rahim has already taken his first step."

Every thread of the story tightened inside Feroz's mind.

The outside world had not stopped while he was inside the Learning Path.

Haroon was still searching.

Younus and Ibn Younus were still searching.

Haya was still carrying the weight of the Threshold.

Sameer was still carrying his warnings.

Mrs. Aliya was still missing.

Yusuf was still missing.

And somewhere beyond all of it…

Rahim was moving.

The older Feroz stepped closer.

"You may forget parts of this place."

Feroz frowned.

"Forget?"

"The Learning Path protects itself."

"Not every memory leaves with you."

"But the lessons do."

Feroz looked at the glowing arch.

"What if I forget something important?"

The older Feroz smiled faintly.

"Then it will return when you need it."

The silver lights suddenly rose upward.

All at once.

Like a flock of silent stars.

They climbed into the darkness above the Hall.

Higher.

Higher.

Until they disappeared beyond the unseen ceiling.

The platform became quiet again.

Feroz exhaled slowly.

"They left?"

The older Feroz shook his head.

"No."

"They found what they were searching for."

Feroz's heartbeat slowed.

"What did they find?"

The older Feroz looked at him.

"You."

Silence.

Feroz felt the weight of those words settle inside him.

Not a title.

Not a destiny.

Not a prophecy.

Him.

Feroz Khan.

The older Feroz stepped aside.

The glowing arch stood open.

Warm golden light flowed through it.

Not blinding.

Inviting.

Feroz hesitated.

"Will I see you again?"

The older Feroz smiled.

"Yes."

"But not like this."

Feroz wanted to ask more.

About Qadir.

About Rahim.

About the Debt.

About the Tree.

About the question that had stopped his father.

But the older Feroz raised one hand.

"No more answers."

"Not here."

"The next answers belong to the world."

Feroz looked at the arch.

Then back at the older version of himself.

For the first time since entering the Learning Path, he did not feel like a student.

He felt like someone standing at the edge of a decision.

A real one.

Not a lesson.

Not a test.

A beginning.

The older Feroz spoke one final sentence.

"Remember this, even if you forget everything else."

Feroz waited.

The older Feroz's voice became quiet.

Almost gentle.

"The lesson was never how to survive the Learning Path."

"It was how to survive what comes after it."

Feroz looked at the glowing arch.

Took a slow breath.

And stepped forward.

The golden light swallowed him.

The Hall disappeared.

The bridges disappeared.

The lanterns disappeared.

The older Feroz disappeared.

The last thing Feroz heard before everything faded was not a command.

Not a warning.

But Suleiman's calm voice.

Echoing from somewhere deep within the Learning Path.

"Keep asking the right questions."

Then darkness.

Then silence.

Then…

Feroz opened his eyes.
