Chapter 24 - The Hidden Map

The night was silent.

Not peaceful.

Just… waiting.

The forest barely moved.

Even the leaves seemed careful not to make sound.

Feroz sat near a small fire.

The flames flickered low.

Unstable.

Like they were reacting to his thoughts.

His eyes stayed fixed on them.

But his mind wasn't.

It was elsewhere.

Questions.

Too many.

Why him?

Why the Free Masons?

Why his father?

And most importantly—

What was inside him?

Something that didn't feel like a gift anymore.

Yusuf sat opposite him.

Sharpening a small blade.

Slow.

Controlled.

Every movement precise.

He didn't look at Feroz immediately.

But he was aware of him.

Always.

"You're stronger than you think," Yusuf said finally.

His voice broke the silence cleanly.

A pause.

"But strength without control…"

"…becomes destruction."

Mrs. Aliya stirred a small pot near the fire.

Calm hands.

Tired eyes.

"We didn't come here for philosophy," she said quietly.

"We came because he needs direction."

Yusuf stopped sharpening.

For a moment.

Then slowly placed the blade down.

He reached inside his coat.

Pulled something out.

Old leather.

Folded.

Worn.

Carefully preserved.

He placed it on the ground.

The firelight touched it.

It reacted.

Subtly.

Like it remembered being hidden.

Yusuf unfolded it.

Slowly.

Carefully.

A map appeared.

Not normal.

Not modern.

Ancient.

Lines of gold faded across its surface.

Strange symbols marked across unknown regions.

And at the center—

A single point that felt heavier than the rest.

Feroz leaned forward slightly.

"What is this?"

Yusuf didn't answer immediately.

He studied the map first.

Then spoke.

"The Path of the Bloodline."

A pause.

"Your father left it with me before he disappeared."

Feroz's breath slowed.

His fingers tightened.

"Why didn't I see it before?"

Yusuf's eyes darkened.

"Because once it is revealed…"

"Their attention follows it."

Mrs. Aliya looked up sharply.

"The Free Masons."

Yusuf nodded once.

"They don't search randomly."

"They feel this path."

Feroz stared at the glowing lines.

"They can sense a map?"

Yusuf corrected him.

"They can sense what it leads to."

A pause.

"And this…"

He pointed at the center.

"…leads to the Temple of the First Light."

Silence dropped instantly.

Even the fire seemed quieter.

Feroz frowned.

"What is that?"

Yusuf's voice lowered.

"The only place where your power can be fully awakened."

A longer silence followed.

Feroz looked up.

"Fully… awakened?"

Yusuf didn't soften the truth.

"Yes."

"But once that process begins…"

"You will not remain the same."

Mrs. Aliya stepped closer.

"That's not the problem right now."

She looked at Yusuf.

"The problem is we've already been exposed."

Yusuf didn't disagree.

He simply exhaled once.

Heavy.

Controlled.

Then—

A sound broke the forest.

Snap.

Then another.

Branches breaking.

Fast movement.

Not wind.

Not animals.

Feroz stood instantly.

So did Yusuf.

Mrs. Aliya reached for her blade.

Yusuf closed the map in one motion.

Pressed it into Feroz's hands.

"Run," he said immediately.

Feroz froze.

"What?"

Yusuf's eyes sharpened.

"Take it."

"Now."

Footsteps multiplied in the darkness.

Not one.

Several.

Surrounding.

Closing in.

Mrs. Aliya grabbed Feroz's arm.

"No hesitation," she said firmly.

"Not this time."

Feroz looked at Yusuf.

"You're coming too."

Yusuf didn't answer.

That was the answer.

The shadows between the trees shifted.

Faster now.

Closer.

Watching.

Learning their positions.

Yusuf stepped forward slightly.

Not running.

Not retreating.

Just preparing.

"Feroz," he said calmly.

"If you survive this moment…"

"Then the Path continues."

A pause.

"If you don't…"

His eyes held his.

"…then it was never meant to begin."

Silence broke.

Mrs. Aliya pulled Feroz back.

"Move!"

They ran.

Into the forest.

Branches whipped past them.

The fire disappeared behind.

But the forest wasn't empty.

It was alive.

And something inside it was moving with them.

Tracking.

Feroz held the map tightly.

His grip shaking slightly.

Behind them—

The shadows emerged fully now.

Not fully visible.

Not fully formed.

But faster than anything human.

And hungry in intent.

Feroz ran harder.

His breath sharpened.

His heart steadying strangely.

Not fear.

Not panic.

Something else.

Awakening.

And somewhere deep inside—

That same force that had saved him before—

Began to rise again.

But this time—

It wasn't waiting to protect him.

It was waiting to decide.
