Chapter 1 - Chapter 1: Venomous

"There's a monster in my closet, Jay!" My five year old brother screamed with a frightened look on his face. "I seen it. It talks to me!" He pointed his finger towards the closet door. I shifted my eyes toward the door and rolled my eyes as I turned to look at him. "Oh shut up," I said, throwing his favorite stuffed animal at him. "Go to sleep." "But Jay-" I rushed over to his closet and threw the double doors open. "See! Nothing's in here, Tommy." He peeked from under his covers and stared at the closet until his face relaxed. I closed the doors and walked towards his bedroom door. "Monsters aren't real." I said as I switched the light off and closed the door. "Kids." I said as I turned on my Playstation and settled down to play Call Of Duty. I was three games in when I heard Tommy begin to cry. I didn't pay much attention to it because he was probably whining about that stupid monster that doesn't exist. It was when I heard a terrified scream that I ran into his room and pushed the door open. Tommy was sitting against the wall on the floor crying while hugging his stuffed animal with a horrified look on his face as he stared at the closet. I followed his gaze and that's when I saw it. Those red menacing eyes peering out from the darkness at my little brother. It all happened so fast. A black disgusting hand reached out from the dark closet and grabbed Tommy's ankle with so much force that his stuffed animal fell from his grasp and as he was pulled into the closet in less than a second. I ran to the closet as the door shut in my face. I tried to pull the doors open but it wouldn't budge. I grabbed a baseball bat that was lying next to his bed and began tearing the door down until it eventually threw itself open. Tommy or the monster was nowhere in sight. His clothes and shoes and boxes of toys were neatly tucked into the closet. It was like nothing happened. I pushed everything aside and began frantically searching for an opening in the closet that could lead me to my brother. I found nothing. I backed away and fell onto the floor and buried my face into my hands. "No, no, no. This can't be happening." I whispered. I tried waking myself up, hoping it was all a dream. I lifted my head expecting to see Tommy sleeping peacefully in his bed but to my horror his bed was empty. I immediately got up and thought about calling the police but of course they wouldn't believe that some creature in my brother's closet took him. I ran to my room and grabbed my phone to call my parents since they were at working due to having to work a night shift. My mom and dad didn't pick up and I began to have an anxiety attack. I ran back to Tommy's room hoping to find him there but instead all over the walls displayed a message that looked as if it was written in blood "Tommy will be dead soon." My heart began to pound against my chest as I struggled to breathe. Then, a cold dark hand grabbed my shoulder and I heard a terrifying voice whisper in my ear "No one can save him." I drew back in horror as I watched the closet door open and Tommy being thrown into a heap on the floor. I ran over to him to find him covered with blood pouring out from various wounds across his body. "TOMMY!" I screamed as I began to cry. I grabbed my phone and dialed 911 and asked for an ambulance. "Everything's going to be alright, Tommy" as I used a pillowcase to wipe the blood from his small body. "Jay…" He whispered as his breathing became short and a single tear trickled down his face. "He killed me." And he took his last breath.

"TOMMY!" I screamed as I vigorously shook him. "Tommy, please stay with me!" My heart beat faster against my chest. "Tommy!" I closed my eyes as I gripped his frail body in my arms and pulled him close to my chest. Tears streamed down my face. "No. Not my little brother. This can't be happening." And that's when Tommy began to laugh. I immediately shot my eyes open as the laugh became inhuman and devilish. I pulled Tommy away from me as I stared into his face in horror. Tommy, well the inhuman creature that was beginning to tear its way from beneath Tommy's skin, continued laughing while dark blood poured out from its mouth, the red menacing eyes staring deeply into my own. I was paralyzed with fear and I couldn't bring myself to move. I began to hyperventilate as the creature swiftly revealed itself. In a matter of seconds, the creature had turned into a withering snake. My conscious suddenly awoke as my instincts started to kick in. I quickly stood up and ran towards the door but it shut in my face. I tried pulling the door open but the knob only broke off and made a loud clink as it fell against the hard wooden floor. The room became hot and stuffy as the red substance from the written messages on the walls poured onto the floor, encircling the snake as it hissed and began to rise from the floor, enlarging in size as it did so. I helplessly backed into a corner, feeling the hot sticky substance against my back. The monstrous snake hissed and bore its eyes minaciously into my face for at least half a second before I felt myself being vigorously pulled into the circle of the red substance with the creature, like a magnetic forcefield. The snake withered into a small creature again as it slid its somewhat beautiful black body across the floor towards me. "TOMMY WILL DIE SOON!" a booming voice screamed before the snake raised its mouth above my ankle. My breathing excelled as I watched the snake in slow motion bring its fangs slowly towards my skin. "You can still save him." A voice seemed to whisper in my ear as the snake's fangs stabbed into my flesh and a sharp pain pierced throughout my entire body. My vision became black as I felt my body drop onto the floor.
