"Wait a minute!" Phillips couldn't stand it anymore and stopped the man, loudly questioning, "That's just a seven-year-old child; I'm the one who upset you. What good is killing her? I'm still standing here just fine."
With that, the perpetrator's violent actions paused, and he stared at Phillips with malicious eyes. Suddenly, he changed his mind, roughly threw the little girl to the ground, and put his foot on her again. "I won't kill her, but you must die."
Phillips remained calm, "If I die, will you let her go?"
"If you don't die, I can shoot her right now!" The criminal cunningly avoided answering his question, grinning with menace.
"Okay."
"Captain!"
The others, fearing he might do something foolish, hurriedly tried to stop him.
"Put the gun down; he's playing with you. He won't let the little girl go, Captain."
"Yeah, Captain, he's a bastard, a scumbag. Don't fall for it!"
