Momo was jolted awake by a nightmare.
The soft, warm light fell on her pale cheeks, her trembling eyelashes revealing the fear and dread from her dream. Sitting up abruptly, she took a few deep breaths to calm herself down.
Closing her eyes briefly, Momo lifted the quilt and got out of bed to get some water. Only when she reached the coffee table did she realize that she had finished the water in her cup before sleeping.
Suddenly, a sense of irritability arose in her heart.
She couldn't pinpoint where the discomfort came from, just that her whole body felt uneasy. She opened the door, intending to go downstairs for some water.
Groggily reaching the stairwell, she noticed the lights were still on downstairs.
Not only that, she also heard her father's voice.
Momo raised a hand to press her aching temples and took two steps down the stairs when a deep, familiar voice suddenly entered her ear.
Her breath caught, and her feet stopped abruptly.
