I stared at the aftermath of my so-called accidental mountain renovation.
The mountain, or what remained of that particular side of it, looked as if some enraged giant had taken a bite out of it and immediately regretted the taste.
Smoke and dust rolled from the collapsed hideout, drifting into the air like a shameful confession. Rocks still tumbled every now and then, small ones, thankfully, because I had already used enough magic for the day and I was not in the mood to continue arguing with geology.

Do not judge me. If a mountain tries to bury me alive, I have every right to hold a grudge against the subject. That's just normal human reaction.
Behind me were the people we rescued from that hellhole. Women and children, and a few men who looked like they had been beaten into silence more than once. Some could stand while some could not. Some clung to others without even realizing that their nails were digging into flesh.
