Ever wondered if things you have been told in the past could have been lies? Things you never questioned, told by people who you used to trust unconditionally... once you discover that the person has lied to you at least once, you start questioning everything. EVERYTHING. Not a nice feeling, especially if it's someone who you have been listening to since the first days you can properly remember. And you have no way of verifying it. Nope, nothing, just the person insisting that it was the truth. Why? Because the only other witness is an equally shitty species. And they've been telling lies about each other for forever. And just like that, you start to question your entire life, your entire existence. You start to question what exactly you even meant to them, if you did at all, except being a tool for them to use against the other, or to wash their own conscience clean.

If you are lucky, you will meet a person who can muffle those thoughts for a while. Who will make you see that these assholes are not worth you tearing your own mind apart just to understand. That there probably is nothing to understand in the first place, other than the fact that humans are simply full of shit and hatred. And that the hateful war will always be more important to them than you ever were, no matter how much they try to reassure you that you were always their priority. Another bunch of lies, right there. How do I know that was a lie as well? Imagine you never asking that person for anything beyond necessities, but when the time comes when you need actual help that's crucial for your sanity, they turn their backs on you. There is no such thing as unconditional love for them. The hatred will always be more important, like drugs that you sell your own child for. They don't even care if they have to paint others as evil in order to maintain their own false image. They will do it without hesitation, even if it's another member of the family. The top priority for them is and always will be to look like a saint compared to the one they're fighting their stupid war with. All else be damned. How can they live knowing they have betrayed their "most important ones"? Don't ask me.

Only people who can take responsibility for their own actions should be allowed to become parents. Not people who think that once the child becomes adult by law, they can leave it as if it's a stranger. Some seem to think that once the child reaches that age, all trauma from before adulthood gets erased and they can not be held responsible. Heck, some think that whatever evil they do after the child becomes an adult, gets excused thanks to everything they have done before the child became an adult. To which I say: you decided to have a child? It's your damn responsibility, if you scarred the kid, no matter at which stage of their life, you're responsible for it. The fact that doing anything that scars your own child is beyond evil is besides the point. If you're not sure you can handle the responsibility - don't have kids. The world will be better if no one has to suffer your stupidity.

Sometimes, I wish there was some legal way of disposing of such failures. Getting rid of them so they do not cause any more harm to the world. It seemed so much easier in the past. People were actually, properly punished for harming others. Today, they just have to make up some crap that will make them look innocent in front of a court and leave the victim to fight the worst demons alone. After all, who apart from the rare, actually intelligent individuals would ever beleive that an illness that doesn't concern the body could actually lead to death?
~
That leads to an interesting human trait that could only develop under the current, "better" system. Even if the guilty one knows what they've done, even openly admits it in front of the victim, they will never admit it anywhere else. They think that if the victim is not able to prove it on front of a court, they're safe and don't have to feel responsible. Which... just worsens the victim's state of mind. Such is humanity. Seeking any means to make themselves look perfect, and never hesitating to destroy others for it.
~
And the victims? They have to hide. They have to pretend that everything is fine, like they're not infuriated by the impertinence, by the injustice. They have to stifle it all, making their condition even worse. If they don't, all they will get is the blame for accusing someone who they have no proof against. So they lie, forced to become just as false as the ones who hurt them.
