Grandpa Chester looked at Tessa, staring at him, seemingly surprised. He put down his teacup and asked, "So, you recognize me?"
Tessa nodded directly, "Kind of. I've seen you in photos. You're my grandfather."
"Don't call me that," which implied he hadn't acknowledged her as his granddaughter-in-law yet.
Tessa stayed silent, just watching him.
Her little eyes were so adorably soft.
Grandpa Chester suddenly felt this young lady was really cute, wanting to say something gentle, but then he thought, no, that's not appropriate. Today was to meet his granddaughter-in-law.
Grandpa Chester said, "You don't seem worried at all. While you know I'm not a kidnapper now, weren't you scared before? Aren't you afraid you might run into a real kidnapper?"
Tessa nodded, "I was, very scared, but later I wasn't. I figured you wouldn't harm me."
Grandpa Chester said coldly, "That's not certain. Maybe today I won't let you go back."
Tessa: "..."
Was he trying to scare her with that remark?
